What about the folding seams, won’t this become a point of failure after repeated operation and sustained exposure to sun, heat, moisture and air? It’s a lot cheaper and easier to replace a fabric or membrane tent than it would be to replace those folding seams. Please correct me if I am wrong.
@@heart4Pahoa those seams look to be made out of wood and a metal hinge , i dont think they will fail easily plus they are only exposed to the elements when you are actually camping in it
@@heart4Pahoa from what I can see in other videos it looks like those seems are a hinge and weather stripping. Pretty easy fix. It looks like Tyler has a great deal of experience in manufacturing and manufacturing design.
I'm retired fixed income... I bought an F250 4 X 4 recently and started to mod it out.. this is kinda where I am heading so far... Your design and function and practicality is by far the best I've seen.. The mods.. ready built sections that can be.. setup a multitude of ways is brilliant.. You think like me.. KUDOS to you both well done !
This is fantastic great job love it wow please do more and make a incredibly rugged version that will last fore ever with awning accessories to expand your living space always necessary and external shower and washroom beautiful ❤️ job.
seriously best design out there today, hope this takes off, would be my first choice when the time comes to outfit my new tacoma. Can't wait to see more of these, excellent work!
Oh, now this is what I’ve been looking for! What a great design. I was literally looking at a pop-up in the campsite next to us and thinking, “Why doesn’t anyone make a hard-side pop-up?” We used to pull an Aliner, and I always wondered why slide-in campers didn’t incorporate some of those hard-side pop-up features. What’s great about your design is that you can still use the truck’s bed for utility, even if you leave the camper on. PERFECT. When we come off the road and I get a pickup again, I’m definitely going to hit you guys up for one of these!
Das Dach ist die zweitbeste Idee die ich kenne. Habe mir auch schon ein Modell so gebaut. Eine Wand rund um und dicht. Die kann man auch bei Regen öffnen. Toll gemacht 🙂
I really like your design. I like a hard-sided pop-up. One suggestion would be to have the option of having windows in the swing up side doors, too. If I'm out in beautiful nature, I'd like to be able to see out the windows on all sides. Plus, windows will make it seem larger inside.
I know what you're saying yet I wonder if their reason for completely covering the windows is so if there's a very strong storm not right by glass that can break. I once spent some nights in an RV and felt very scared in it when a tornado warning came through though luckily there was a house nearby where we could spend that night not right by any windows. But maybe there's a way to have both options where those window covers can completely fold or slide away when desired.
This hard sided rising roof is exactly the same design as found on UK manufactured hard sided rising roof campers from the 1980's! I immediately recognised the design type!
@@FoodForestNursery I'll look them up, but I'm pretty sure they're no longer in business. I'll update this post when I get accurate information for you.
This is just awesome...i have been reading and longing for one....till now truck bed campers were having a fabric wall when raised....but this ia the one...u have satisfied my thirst...
Like it but $14000 for a shell version for my F150 long bed is too much. Even though a Bundutec or Four Wheel Camper brand is a soft side, a Fully self contained unit is around $ 20,000. With a water heater, sink , stove, fridge, toilet , microwave , wall mount a/c , battery and battery charger,, corrner jacks, powered roof vent, etc.
If you make another video like this one, you may want to include a before (bare bones interior) and after (all decked out, ready for camping interior) video clips. To say that you can build any layout one wants or that custom interiors are possible, does not really satisfy the visual input of possibilities that people like me require. Kind of hard to want to stay in a bare box. But really love your philosophy.
Your design and set up is brilliant guys, I believe your builds will be increadably popular as it is not a one size fits all. It will, I am sure, appeal to first time outdoor people who do not want to go with expensive "off the shelf" camper options. Well done guys hoping for your great success Regards from South Africa
I have been filming campers and trailers for years at the overland expo and SEMA and have become a big fan of truck campers specifically for overlanding. I am shocked that there aren't more pop top and hard wall campers? So far I have only seen Alaskan Campers which are amazing but also very expensive at $30,000+ and that's with no toilet lol. Their design is also kind odd with its flat front. Very non aerodynamic. And lastly theirs is extremely heavy. I like your design. Sleek, simple and looks like it can be ordered as an empty shell or built up with cabinetry. I love it. I hope I can interview you guys at Overland Expo 2020? I'm also such a big fan of truck campers that I recently bought a Tundra project truck so I am very interested in your camper even more. Keep up the good work. See you soon. Mixflip
Yeah there are a few that you should look at if you haven’t already. Kimbo and 4wheel off-road camper I believe is it’s name. A little pricy but you can live out of these full time.
@@S_man89 I like those as well but jimbo campers arent pop top and FWC arent hard side. So far Hiatus is alone in the lightweight hard side pop up camper market....for now.
@@hiatuscampers4572 hi there. Own a 2020 Toyota Tacoma Trd Pro. Have you guys done anynew model Tacoma's? Also have you guys experimented with the 6ft Tacoma bed ?
This will be my retirement option. This is it. Love the no fabric material. Light simple and customizable. Add on side window be great for viewing. Add on solar system, shower, kitchen, etc...still much more affordable compare to others. Love it love it love it.
Have you ever thought to make a version for the mid/low roof van, this would be on point and a much better camping experience than a custom canvas conversion from California.
This so sick, y'all. I am currently doing a personal van build and am designing something very similar to this. So cool to see the hardshell idea in action and in such beautiful form. Great job!
Awesome looking product! I wonder how it would be in snowy conditions when you have snow on the top and if it's still easy to come down or go up... or when it folds away and snow or rain that's stuck/ left on the side of still there...
I like the camper I like the side access door Fits well on an Access Cab long box - that would be my choice Tail gate delete is great Barn doors are nice - I would rather have 1 larger door (at least 3 feet wide)much like the Alu Cab Canopy camper. In this kind of camper one foot on the outer edges of the camper does not really need immediate access via a door. I like the simple one action one handed door. I would prefer the bed to be on a hinge where you just lift it up with "ALL" the bedding in place - ready for sleep when you lower it and not having to make the bed.. (again - a la ACCC)
great(!) work and ideas. Respect guys. Just a little tip: add more windows. You want it to feel like an amazing, luxurious camping vechicle, not a confined motorhome attempt.
Your doors could be a part of a portable shower. How to collect the fallen water is a question. Could there be a two piece folding shower/ toilet? I know they have portable toilets. It would be great for a division for a three in one.
Wow. Great design! Any thoughts windows in the future? Wonder about condensation without ventilation in the top. Have you started mass production yet? And if so what price point do u expect?
Greetings Kingman Queen Diva after looking at possibilities of being adaptive conversion for like alui cab topper camper. This would be an aftermarket branch of your co. RASPECT!!
If you could make this for the whole legthe of a Ducato/Sprinter, make one manhole to climb through, have the bed and some small storage space up there and a whole living space in the van itself. Now that would be awesome and you would still be able to use the roof for solar panels. Would be a huge space saver.
Modify the design so you can keep your bed set up, blankets and pillows included. A major over site going back to the Alaskan from the 1950’s to current and all pop up trailers. Ug!
