@@albrrrt Probably not. I was just giving a nod at the keyblade-shaped artwork for the single there, also I grew up playing the two games and its in-between sequels during my PS2 days lol. Add: I just realized the first initial of both "Kingdom Hearts" words is an anagram to Hiatus Kaiyote😆 2nd Add: Okay, I just realized the words "poking fun" are supposed to mean in negative connotation after I double checked it in the dictionary🤦😣 All this time, I thought it's supposed to have a neutral connotation and therefore, it can be used both negatively or positively depending on the context. I just didn't know about this before like, I swear I've seen various people on the internet using it both in negative and positive context🤷 Also for the record, English is my second language because I'm not a native English speaker and I just happen to be fluent enough to write down stuff in English just because it's a necessity. All being said, I've fixed it with the more appropriate wording. My big apology for the misunderstanding🙏🙏😔😔

HK has had several video game related references in their music before, for one this being called "cheat code", tracks like Atari, or their By Fire EP having what looks like King from Tekken on the cover.

Same with Red Room. Nai's delivery is so earnest and strong that it makes the simple lyrics shine. Hiatus is proof you don't always have to use a thesaurus to write a song, if you get my drift.

Honestly when it comes to Hiatus Kaiyote and their musicianship, they are quite simply one of the most impressive bands I've ever gotten into. No matter how they play, they are always 1000% in the pocket. No matter how relatively complex or restrained the music is, they are always first and foremost in service to the groove. And my god is the groove HARD. That said, I think Love Heart Cheat Code the song is insanely catchy. Like, I can't get it out of my head, and I don't want it out. I can't stop singing it out loud, and I want to still be singing it even on the fateful day when this body breathes it's last breath. I want this song to be what my soul is singing as I blast through the pearly gates and on into the 77th dimensional discotheque in the sky.

You can even see evidence of this with the title track - there's at least one live video of them performing the song that's floating around RU-vid, and for it Nai puts down her guitar and starts boogying around the stage. So yeah I think you're spot on in terms of the kind of album vision they were going for 💜

I had the same feeling when I saw them before Mood Valiant dropped. I remember swaying and moving in rhythm even when I've never heard the new songs before (obviously), and the time signatures were all over the place. One of the greatest experiences of my life. I also met Perrin before the show that day!

Same thing with me. Almost felt like I heard the song before, knowing that I didn’t. Had a dream with a song with a slow groovy jam feel the night before, then this dropped hours later.

Yes!!! I’m sure you and every other fan can agree we support everything HK does, not once has a song been remotely close to dare I even say “okay”, but this one just didn’t touch my soul like all the other ones! I feel the same way about Lace Skull. The entirety of Choose Your Weapon? Chef’s kiss. T.T.? The only one I wasn’t feeling was Lace Skull. And even the last album got me in each and every emotion. Just something about this title track didn’t quite get me going like all the rest but that’s ok! Music is personal!

The word "handsome" used to be very commonly used to describe women's beauty. You can see it used that way in a lot of vintage novels. I say it's time to bring it back 💙
