The features of Chinese daps are tempting; but what about their built quality? I have an old AK Kann and I am thinking of getting a new dap, which Chinese manufacturer offers best quality? Thanks
I don't own any statistics about this, unfortunately. All DAPs I own works great without any issues, but having 1 pcs of each isn't enough to make any conclusion
Thank you for the review. How would you compare the sound of RS6 with Cayin RU6 that you reviewed a few days ago? I understand that RS6 will have more power, but if used with IEMs, I don't think that power will make a difference
they have a particular similarity in signature, but RS6 offers better control (having own battery still makes difference) and is more natural, especially on treble. Also, all that tweaking options is also a great thing to have :)
Great review. What tweaks did you like the most in it? Planning to get it to go with Mest MKII and Sony IER Z1R, which said to have great synergy with RS6. Did you compare it to Shanling M8?
I'm a simply guy, I engaged preset for the Mest and enjoyed it :) As for Shanling M8, it's pretty different, more highlighting emotions and dynamics, more "energetic"
Wasn’t sure about your location, and sincerely hoping you and yours stay safe and well. So sorry Ukrainians must again fight for their independence. Blessings ✨🙏✨
hi, really informative review. got me interested in buying one. can you please share with us how does this compare with ibasso dx240? thank you in advance
Thank you for the review. Very helpful. I've got some very old shure 846 iems which are great and using some Edifier stax spirit s3 headphones (and some Audeze LCD which are very heavy). I enjoy a wide range of music especially classical and vocals like Loreena Mckennitt. I was wondering which DAPs of around this price range might give the most enjoyment. I'm considering this dap, fiio m11 plus, ibasso dx340 or possibly A&K Kann alpha.
@@PortaFi thanks for the reply yes, those models, or any others! I enjoy classical music a lot, from Bach to Beethoven and more. I enjoy female singers who have very expressive voices and more complex arrangements (like Loreena Mckennitt). l. Also I enjoy a wide spacing and being able to focus on different instruments, without things getting too dry or analytical. Base I'm not too worried about but like some. I'm not into heavy metal music, but do enjoy traditional music from most countries (for example Kodo drummers from Japan) and also dance music where you can feel the movement. I'm using Edifier stax spirit s3 headphones, shure 846 iems, Audeze LCD2 classic , and might try some 7hz timeless IEMS.
@@Andyhandle well, probably you'd like more neutral sources more (it's just my assumption, and I can be wrong). So, iBasso models or A&K Kann Alpha should be a better choice in this case
@@PortaFi thanks for the reply much appreciated. Something neutral definitely. I enjoyed the Kann alpha when I tried it. I'm in no rush at the moment, so will take my rone and also keep an eye out for sales prices too.
Just curious on the word natural in your reviews. When I hear the word natural I think of the sound being realistic. In your reviews it seems that natural points at sound that is kind of a dryer reference sound? I wonder if you can clarify what “natural” means to you? What is the most realistic sounding dap under $1k usd currently in your experience? Thanks 🙏
Well, some people indeed say that "natural" sound is the most monitoring and dry one. But for me, the dry sound is another type of coloration, excessive focus on micro-contrast sometimes can sound engaging, but it's not natural, as in real life we are not getting such representation So, for me, natural sound is more balanced, without any type of coloration. I have a few records from the acoustic concerts I've visited personally and heard them myself, so I use that as a reference point, to determine how close is particular gear to a "realistic" sound As for the players, probably for me, it's FiiO's M11 Plus ESS. And if you can go a bit above $1000, iBasso DX240 is a great option too
@@PortaFi thanks so much for your kind clarification and recommendation! All the best! Blessings to you, your family, friends, and the liberation of Ukraine ✨✨✨
nice pun… To be honest, this variety of æ and other similar sounds it really confusing for the non-native speaker. I'm practicing with a teacher, but it's still too complicated
Hi, I like warmer sound signature, I have Hifiman EF400 which is R2R DAC/AMP and I am really liking it. Do you think RS6 is the best option for warmer sound signature right now?
