I love u reviewing singles. Benjamin percys recent wolverine run that ended with sabretooth war was awesome! And im excited for the new solo ongoing comin out.
Wasn’t sure what to think the first half of this book, but shit got crazy in that back half! Also really enjoying Claremont’s Wolverine: Deep Cut so far. Haven’t been reading Wolverine single issues since the 90s, so it’s been fun diving back in with these.
If you’re reading this for the art, you’re going to want to pick up the Red Band edition. It’s only available in print and has extra panels inserted throughout the story that are more graphic and add a couple pages to the book. Definitely worth the extra dollar
I agree with you. $5.99 is a little much for a single comic book. I could understand if it was an anniversary or landmark issue but still. I think I may get back into just collected editions
This is the type of creative teams they need on the ongoing books. Also been a fan if Capullo since the What If, Quasar and X-Force days and later, Spawn. This book looks like a banger.
And as far as what you said at the beginning of the video, I just turned 41, and I look at a book like this and think that, when I was a kid, there were multiple books that were as cool as this coming out every week, and now a lot of the stuff just feels anemic, restrained, stretched out and unexciting by comparison. I'd be interested in your take on Predator vs Black Panther 1. I thought it was a let down - they keep shoe horning Shuri into the stories and won't let T'Challa be great. It would've been better if it was the Panther from the Priest era.
I had no idea there was a RB issue. I might have to rebuy if it isn't too much of a difference. But I thought Cap and WS blowing up would be the big "ah shit!" Moment. It was definitely Colossus joining the Brother Hood of Evil Mutants.
Ok I gotta say I love Todd McFarlane, always have and always will but Capullo is on the next level of artistry. McFarlane can't even keep up, not even close lol. Really loving Capullo's version of Wolverine and how he really dials in his height on every panel with other characters. Capullo has stated that John Buscema is the man that made him want to draw comics , when I look closely I see Buscema's influence being carried out more than anyone else's. Jim Lee, and John Byrne have always been my top 2 Wolverine artists and right now Capullo is getting up there for me in the pantheon of legendary Wolverine artists. The huge splash pages with Wolverine, Deadpool, Sabertooth and Omega Red were godlike and literally freaking poster material. Hope he makes some prints of those for future conventions. I was lucky to meet him a few months ago and get one of the few 100 dollar black and white Wolverine 23x34 giclee prints and I freaking love that thing. Got it framed up in the crib. This series is already going ham for me and I'm pretty stoked to get the rest of the issues. Fuck the regular book Red Ban all the way lol. Literally my only complaint is the price of the issue, we really should be getting cardstock covers for this price. Mcfarlane does it on every Spawn title for 2.99 shame on you Marvel.
Great story. But not a Typical Hickman story but he played really well to Greg Capullo strengths. Similar to what Hickman did with Sanford Greene in the Doom one-shot. But I'm glad this is a mini because anything past 5 or 6 issues we will see another artist filling in anyways. But Dope issue!
All due respect to Hickman and Wolverine but if you know you got Capullo on the hook for 5 issues and you know you have a huge X-men relaunch coming why did they not put him in one of those books?
@@GemMintCollectibles Stabbed in the heart by Wolverine and then he rips Wolverine into pieces and then the next episode they are both as fine as Storm in a bondage outfit!
I thought this comics was OK I kinda wish it was just wolverine surviving in the savage land but that only last a few pages.....I would say Deep cut is a lot better.
Red Band is a new Marvel gimmick. They release a regular version and a Red Band that's polybagged "for our protection." The Red Band has a couple of different panels with more gore, and maybe a page or 2 extra. It's really stupid and annoying, and a cash grab. The sad thing is, Marvel has released gorier comics without bags. Red Band isn't anything different. Just a gimmick. But yeah, top artist and writer. I just hate that had to fluff it up with the Red Band nonsense.
This does not look good tbh. I'm a huge Capullo fan and feel like Batman was his best while XForce was the most fun. But this here is just not very enticing.
Moves faster than a normal drug out Hickman story. Great art but just seemed like another Dark multiverse/What if storyline that’ll come and go. And now we have to deal with this over priced red band and “appropriate audience” gimmick that aren’t really “extreme” at all. I try to stay positive but the big 2 are not making it easy.
