The video clips on this channel are segments of videos taken from videos originally posted on the Hickok45 RU-vid channel. John always includes a link to the original video from which the clip is taken.
Hickok45 videos are filmed on my own private shooting range and property by trained professionals for educational and entertainment purposes only, with emphasis on firearms safety and responsible gun ownership. We are NOT in the business of selling firearms or performing modifications on them. Do not attempt to copy at home anything you see in our videos. Computers have always been one of my other hobbies. Got my first one in 1983, a TRS80 model I. I used to professionally troubleshoot and network them in the 90's on the side, but that lost profitability when computers got so cheap people would rather replace then repair, in the '00s. I do miss the days when owning a computer was like being part of an exclusive club.

Lol... when I bought a new house a few years ago, I hired a crew to move the big stuff. I'd been in that house 30 years. Once everything was in the truck, they asked, "OK, where's this all gonna' go?" I looked at all that furniture and said, "I have no idea, but it's not going with me."

I spent SO much time and spent SO much money when I got into computers in the 90s. (Prob a couple grand on books alone!) Just immersed myself in it for almost 10 years. As a professional photographer, much of it was focused on digital imaging but I went from a working-with-my-hands type of guy to a total computer nerd. Looking back, it's easy to think a lot of it was a waste but it led me to where I am now so maybe not.

High IQ isn't all what it is cracked up to be. My X-wife was a member of Mensa back in the day and wanted someone to go to meetings with her since she was shy so she made me try to take the test to get in too. I got in and after going to a couple meetings with her I decided we didn't fit in with those people at all. A couple years later I quit paying the membership dues and dropped out. They keep sending me requests to join again years later. I don't need to take a test again, just start paying again. I think the real intelligence test is to figure out it is not smart to pay money to belong to an organization just for bragging rights.
@Metal_F0X
@Metal_F0X Месяц назад
Thanks for sharing that. I always had some skepticism about mensa. I had an ex who was a member, along with her 5 siblings and her parents. They were no dummies, but they definitely weren't the geniuses they thought they were, either. They had money, so I kind of figured it was something they bought their way into for bragging rights and resume padding. Sounds like this was the case.

Wow, I used to be a retro computer collector and would have happily traded for that boxed copy of Windows 3.1. It's worth about as much as a used Glock 17. I also used to collect cars. For a lot of people, it's the community that makes or breaks their enjoyment of a hobby. Cars and computers were always about who could spend the most money. What I like about gun enthusiasts is that we all know how much money a person can spend on a rifle but still not even be able to hit paper at 100yd. It's a hobby where you have no choice but to be humble.

Your showing the Windows box reminded me of something. Typically every computer that uses Windows has it's own license because that is how Bill Gates makes money. At work around the year 2000 the manufacturing place I worked at defeated the Bill Gates of one license per computer. They switched to the Citrix Neighborhood which meant somewhere in the building was one computer with the Microsoft paid license that covered hundreds of computers. Terminal locations out on the factory floor had what resembled a modem instead of the licensed desktop. I love the fact that Bill Gates doesn't always get all the money per each computer.

Depending on the school district, you either concealed and carried or you didn’t have to. I knew a guy that just started teaching back in Chicago around 1975. They saw a gun in one of the students locker told the principal the principal said don’t flunk him. Don’t worry about it. We just want to get them out of here as fast as they can either they drop out or we graduate them no matter what their grades are, but we don’t wanna hold anybody back.
