I need to try this ! I might cut the sugar 50% with gum syrup gum (to reduce the sugar and keep the body) and store the finished syrup in the fridge, Probably makes an interesting old fashioned cocktail too.
What do you use it one? Looks great, definitely want to make some! Is it shelf stable after the top seals or does it have to be refrigerated? How long is it good for? Thanks in advance!
Forgive me, the attatched bark is green ,living and the tree kinda likes it that way, the flavor must change depending on the status of the bark stock correctish?
I only collect detached or hanging bark and break it before the attachment so not to harm the tree. I find that if you stick to newly-detached bark in good condition the flavor is high-quality. I wouldn't collect any bark on the ground that looks like it has been there a long time/is deteriorating or buried- I assume that would affect the flavor
@@CookingwithMrsGRachelGoclawski I meant how long do you hold the syrup at that temperature on the stove? Or do you remove it from the heat as soon as it hits that temp?
Sounds really yummy! Would it make a shelf-stable simple sugar 🤔 if it does, I would like to try it too! If not maybe you could keep it in the fridge. Been thinking of you! Hope you both are doing well!
