The art style does have a lot of attention to detail put in it. I just feel like people gloss over it (including me admittedly at first) for looking chibii like.

nope, i like it. or rather i didnt care about it as it was the Story and characters that matter to me. plius the Heartless designs are the best

I think a part of the reason why people dislike it is because unfortunately, the style does nerf a ton of potential storytelling that could have been done if this had classic KH cutscenes. Think about other KH cutscenes and what makes us connect with the characters: character actions, facial animation, voice acting, camera angles, etc; it's all completely absent in the style that Ux/Dark Road uses. Like, imagine if the Keyblade War in Ux was delivered to us in the utter grittiness and brutality as it had been in the BBS secret movie in KH2. It's much easier to emphatize with Aqua's horror, grief, and exhaustion in the BBS secret movie than it is with our chibi character making a different generic face from a set pool of avaliable sprites. Of course we understood the travesty of everyone who perished with the chibi art style, but I lament missed potential of having KH's version of Order 66 be told to us in a much more dynamic cutscene. If you think about it, the Master of Masters really only became iconic as he is due to his preformance in Back Cover; his voice acting and animation is what made him more interesting. It's not to say that the chibi style can't tell a good story, especially if you see it as a sort of like a Visual Novel. A lot of drama and story can be portrayed in this format, but its different than what other KH games have done. There is nothing wrong with liking the chibi style, it's very cute, but it doesn't feel 'justified' for the story. Coupled with the absolutely tedious gacha medal system (where it just becomes impossible to progress without good medals, which are RNG, and the constant power creep) and uninspired mobile gameplay, It's just a shame that two of the most interesting stories in KH are trapped in a storytelling format that could have been told better, had a proper console release. I think the devs saw the problems Ux/DR did for their story, so now they shifted to Missing Link which has a classic KH look to hopefully draw more people in and tell their story in a more interesting and clearer way.

honeslty i 100% BET the issues are with thte GPS/AR stuff. i bet thats what theyre trying to iron out

@@flygonkerel781 to be fair, would that take 2 full years to fix? last time nomura said anything about missing link they said the story was 30% complete, so to me the issue is with the plot. I'm certain because this game is supposed to fix all the plot holes they deliberately left from union x and it has to be connected to kh4.

@@cherryblossom2972 No I think flygonkerel781 is right that its the GPS/AR and some other minor issues on running the game on Android and iOS. There's a lot of configurations within both sides and this is basically a mini-KH3 on your phone. That's going to cause problems, lots of them. The story, I feel they already now since KH4 connects with it and is going smoothly. Whenever Square Enix has problems, its usually technical and then the story might cause a technical problem, thus being rewritten for time.

@@kuricosmos Don't know. Last time we heard from them they spoke about having less than half of the story written, and all that means it's gonna delay KH4 more and more. It could be GPS/AR I agree but could it really take that long to fix? They're no beginners.

it was a stylistic choice,not a hardware limitation. by the time browser chi and unchained chi were out there were already mobile games with console like cutscenes. Hell in JP you could fully play ff13 on mobile phones
