Really great video well explained without any padding. Maybe to prevent the sill void filling up again would it be a good idea to fill the void with expanding polyurethane foam and maybe run a bead of sealant down the seam where the wheel arch cover meets the body. The dirt would have no point of ingress and would run down onto the road surface. (Now that is proper OCD). Nice wheels and tyres.
Hi - see my previous post. Some of the muck comes from the windowscreen area including leaves (walnut catkins in my case) . There is a little drain built into the plastic arch liner (square thing at the bottom). My take is that under normal circumstances this is enough to carry roadspray but when you get a few leaves in there it stops the muck draining. I would suggest sealing it up in any way would be a bad idea. In my opinion waxoil and regular flush with fresh water would be the best. As I've said before - it's not bad design, it's built in obsolesence VW/Merc want it to rot so you buy another van.
Just watched this after viewing your side trim vid. Just imagine that gunge soaked in salty spray after bad weather. No wonder they bubble in that area. Thanks for the heads up, my Crafter will outlast me after doing these fixes.👍 Update - I park close to a walnut tree that sheds these incredible catkins at the end of April. They get everywhere - including the windowscreen valley below the bonnet. I'd cleaned the area behind the wheel arch but guess where the catkins ended up when I washed the van! Witness my slow evolution into someone who starts to understand summat🤣
