Hey girl... my first time here. You asked about cleaning the Coleman Cooler. I have a tip for you. Fill with warm water, baking soda & vinegar. Let it sit over night. Swish with a brush or sponge, rinse & dry. All order & any staining should be gone. If not, repeat with more vinegar & soda. Welcome. I like to be called; GRAM in TEXAS.

I enjoy watching all you videos. I can see the excitement in your face. We bought an old farmhouse to restore and when pulling up the old linolium from the kitchen floor I found under it lots of old newspapers from 1917 telling of the progress of WW1. Keep up the good work!

Years ago, a fellow bought a cheap print, for the vintage frame...upon removing the valueless print, he was astonished to find three printed menus from the RMS Titanic, dated Sunday April 14th, 1912. No, they were not brought up from the wreak...they were part of a left overstock from the printer's run. The original owner simply used them as backfill for the framing job. Somehow they were forgotten...they ended up in the states. where the print was purchased. They are in Titanic museums today.

Having read many comments from viewers, I suggest you HOLD OFF SELLING the PRINTS and FRAMES!!! PLEASE!!! Both prints are precious and the frames beautiful. Perhaps an antique art dealer! The newspaper find is amazing and definitely lends the timing of the framing of the prints! Please share whatever you learn with me (us)!! 👏🎉🥳 GREAT FIND!!! “The thrill of the hunt”!!!🥰

Renee, am a retired custom picture framer with over 35 years experience and wood slat, newspaper backed pictures are old. There are solutions which can neutralize the acid in those papers to eliminate the brittleness. If you want to preserve them, there is probably information on the internet but those two prints may be worth conserving. Yikes, some of those stories are brutal! Cheers, Rik Spector

I went to a yard sale once and saw a rocking chair in their garbage that I wanted. I offered to pay for it and they said to just take it. When I was cleaning it , I saw the name of the maker burned under the seat. Looked it up and it was made in the 1700s. I still have it with the original paint/ stain. Use it every day.

OMG Rene you should of picked up that cooler system for your leg. I used on a system like that when I had both my knees replaced. You fill the cooler part up with ice water , and should have tubes to connect with pad that goes around knee . It has an A/C adapter . The ice water is circulated through the tubes and keeps the swelling down. It has replacement parts that you can order which makes it resellable. Kneedless to say it was very costley

Enjoyed your video Back in the late 1980s a man bought a rough painting for $4 at the Adamstown Pa. flea market , gets it home takes the back off and he finds one of the original first printing of the Declaration of Independence! They printed 500 of them but only 24 are known to survive and only 3 are in private hands He put it in auction and sold in 1991 for $2.4 million !...in 2000 it was resold for $8 million ! I knew a dealer that used to set up at Adamstown and he said the guy that set up across from him was who sold it. The newspapers were interesting, being against those boards turned them into toast from the acid. Older newspapers tend to survive better being rag paper. I collect papers with slave adds ( for sale and run away) mostly pre 1810 and they are usually in very good condition. I also like old hide trunks and they are often lined with news papers, often they will be German / Pa. Dutch. Once had a big one lined with papers from 1820 that articles about Andrew Jackson, had a neat lock with a cover of a guy on a horse...I traded it off.

I chuckled when you were reading the old newspaper and mentioned it "wasn't a good day for the papers". On the contrary, it was a GREAT day for the newspaper company, because they knew what type of stories would sell. Just like the tabloids of today, stories of horror, murder, death and destruction sell. We haven't changed from our ancestors, and still stop to look at traffic accidents and watch videos of tsunamis carrying hundreds of people out to sea.

Most times, when a family of a deceased relative pays others to clear out a home, the family, as well as the cleaners, have no clue what valuables the deceased people might have collected. Add to the fact, the survivors taking care of someone's estate usually live out of state, have little time to clear out the home, look through every item, then stage and sell the home. You'd be surprised, so many people are clueless about vintage items and especially about art. I've found valuable first editions of hardcover books put in the trash!

Some don't realize that "prints" are actually original works of art..examples being lithographs, etchings, woodcuts, etc. vs. "reproductions" which are photographically made. Even if there is an edition of 200 prints, they are all considered originals since each was produced by the printmaker/artist . Such great finds! I would have picked up that terracotta pot as the new ones are not as strong as the old one.

I was shocked by the newspaper ads’ prices for ladies’ clothes. I’ve seen Sears Roebuck ads and such previously, and things cost so few dollars, but of course I knew how little people earned. But these prices were huge in comparison, and I imagine only the very wealthy could afford $98 for a dress! Even the cheapest on sale seemed so very high to me considering the times.
@ksk5664

I was also shocked at the prices. I wouldn't pay those prices today for items.
@synnove1046
@synnove1046 3 года назад
I was surprised that the prices were that high too but the higher prices were the "regular retail" prices. I guess retailers have been exaggerating the savings on a "sale" price for at least a hundred years longer than I would've thought! Also, the fabrics listed (worsted wool, silk) are so much higher in quality than most clothing is made from today. And a womans dress in the late 1800's would've required SO much more of that higher quality fabric due to the long length and full skirt. Plus people kept/wore their clothing for a much longer time than most people do now.

I remember when I was a kid I got a fish hook stuck in my finger & had to go to the doctor to get it taken out. As we were sitting in the waiting room a guy all in white with the apron on came in covered in blood & holding his wrapped up hand. Sliced something up at the Butcher Shop. Never forgot that sight ugh 😑
