That upgraded Speed Up emblem is what really broke the game, IMO. Without taking multiple turns per enemy turn that last fight is a lot shorter, ironically. Loved the video!
I don't think you're supposed to actually fight the eye since it loses one tenth of its hp each time it acts. I think the game just wants you to last for ten turns while you get rid of the tentacles.
@@Retromation a lot of deckbuilders have similar enemies, they just usually don't last as long. Slay the spire has one that's 5 turns. They're meant to be survival checks, to make sure your team isn't just a glass cannon and can actually survive a few hits, because damage isn't usually the answer for them.
@nicalisilva Yes I am aware of them lol. That is why I said "I don't like bosses like this". Slay the Spire's isn't a boss, and that feels like an important distinction because the fight doesn't last as long. The other games that feature bosses and fights like this usually have something else to target more often, e.g. more summons or a defensive reward for hitting the boss (e.g. StS's lowers their attack).
I'm not done with the video but I suspect that the dev for this game figured out the 1 way to get retromation to keep playing a game when he's got plans. A boss that's supposed to be unkillable and a build that could kill it
