I am disappointed that Perilous Forays hasn't been recognized for its full potential. It can get *Nonbasic* lands, too, so Triomes, Shock lands, etc, are valid targets. Yeah many are out of Mitch's budget usually, but that info is still helpful for those who aren't bothered by the financial prices of the desired cards.
Love seeing the transmute cards: I use and abuse transmute on my Niv-Mizzet deck because while the Goblin Matron might be the more common way to tutor you Dockside Extortionist, since I have access to blue how about I just run Muddle the mixture instead? It's a decent counter on it's own but it's also a tutor for any 2 CMC card (So, includes Dockside). Don't have Muddle The Mixture in hand? Don't worry: since it's an instant you can just run merchan scroll, mystic tutor, etc. Might seem like several steps but if you know you can close out things this turn you might as well go for it, get dockside, a ton of mana then just burn or combo off. I also use this to make sure I have my combo pieces (Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, Tandem Lookout or even blinking dualcaster mage) and as an extra land that can tutor you Jeweled Lotus or Mana Crypt with Tolaria West (So run this in adition to Urza Saga for example) just super powerful on decks you wouldn't think can tutor and even on decks that *can* tutor very well Dimir Houseguard is so cheap you might as well run it even if you have Vampiric, Demonic and Imperial Seal if you ever find yourself tutoring a 4 CMC (And chances are you will)
These are the videos that make my pod hate me thank you for showing all of us ways to just have fun. I've build 4 commander decks from you videos that stomp the table every time thanks for the content
Kamahl, Fist of Krosa + Goblin Sharpshooter = awesome land destruction. Add a Seedborn Muse in the mix and you become hated at table when playing Commander.
I have him as part of the 99 for my red/green goad deck. Pretty funny when you turn all your opponents lands into creatures, and they all start trying to bargain on what to let get through so they can all minimize their losses without actually losing the game lol
Fear = is a keyword ability found primarily on black creatures. It is an evasion ability that allows a creature to only be blocked by black or artifact creatures.
Another great vid, thanks Mitch. One suggestion for a future vid that works like dragon arch but shifted towards tribal themes is an artifact called ‘Cryptic Gateway’. Same effect that can be done more than once per turn and cost 0 mana to activate.
One thing id like to point out for Psychic Possession, When you are the one wheeling, you get both your draws AND their draws, so double the cards for the small cost of 1 card a turn
Dawn of the Dead + Palakka Wurm, Siege Rhino, or, God forbid, Archon of Cruelty + Ashnod's Altar or whatever outlet has been a fun little loop in Commander games.
Mitch, something you missed about thermopod is the the fact that its a snow permanent, so you can use its own mana to pay for its own ability. That plus a mana rock like coldsteel heart shouldnt be too hard to fit in a deck. They are probably sleeping on this because its obscure. I started playing during coldsnap, and I've never heard of this.
Fanatical Devotion 2W Enchantment - Sac a creature: Regenerate target creature. This thing is nuts in any deck with a good ratio of tokens to actual creatures and it's $1. It can also target other people's stuff for some politics.
One time a Mycotyrant and 9 fungus tokens attacked various people on the board. Guess who had a Keep Watch in hand and a tapped Kalamax on the board. That's a quick +20 card grip for 3 mana.
One of my favorite troll cards. I think it doesn’t see play because it only puts one person back (forever). It doesn’t do anything to the other two player and doesn’t help your board at all. I do play it though, because it’s funny and in formats like usurper you can give your ally an amazing hand.
Netherborn Phalanx is in my blink deck, i have won games with it. When i haven't i have done 40+ damage across the table multiple turns before someone found an answer
27:27 I LOOOOOVE Orochi Hatchery. Never does enough though. You tap out, you got a thing that can make a lot of snakes for 5 mana, but it takes a lot to make it worth. 10 mana cast, 5 snakes for 5 mana is rough. It goes in my Omnath Locus of mana deck cause it can afford to do the shenanigans, but it's rough and I never actually get to do the thing with the Hatchery. Love the card, never good enough :(
Transmute = is the keyword ability of cards in Ravnica block aligned with the Dimir guild. Transmute works by allowing a player to pay the transmute cost of a given card, discarding the card, then searching their library for a card with the same converted mana cost as the discarded card.
funny how you're like "people still sleeping on this" but if ppl weren't then they wouldnt be budget anymore. It took FOREVER for wayfarer's Bauble to become budget again.
Gate to the Afterlife + God Pharaoh's Gift. Gate says "whenever a nontoken creature you control dies, gain 1 life. Draw a card, then discard a card" and can tutor for God Pharaoh's Gift and put it on the battlefield God Pharaoh's Gift says "at the begining of combat, chose a creature card in your graveyard and exile it. Create a token copy of it, except its a 4/4 Black Zombie with haste until end of turn"
I've used Kamahl's 1st ability so many times whenever someone drops a nuke, i'm like, oh... there goes your lands, not my fault :) there's so many cards that deals with creature removal, it's also good to save your one indestructible creature and your opponent tries to have you sac... i'm like, i'll sac my forest :)
Excellent list for sure. I do have to mention Debtor's Knell. It's obviously okay to view any card highly but I think this card is really bad. Like really really really bad. Strong effect for sure. It's just ungodly slow. You'll have moments when you ramp into it and can safely deploy some defenses, but that's a big ask. That upkeep clause is just pure pain. It has a big case of "just you wait until I untap" syndrome. I'm not saying all cards have to be super efficient or that there's no room for slow cards here and there... But dear Lord is Debtor's Knell so dang slow. It's a scary card too. Unfortunately in Commander the worst types of cards are the ones that are both scary and slow. You draw in hate but the card is too slow to back you up in time.
Erm it kinda sucks if the opponent you put it on dies then your just skipping your draw step if you can't sacrifice the enchantment. XD I've had that happen in a game.
So on Thermopod, the activated ability gives haste but can it even do that if it doesn’t have haste?? You can do it after SS for sure, but not when it matters most?
Wow, these are great recommendations. I didn't even think of using Kamahl defensively like that, because I only thought if him offensively. Great cards! Liked and subscribed!
