This has to be the grandest, most insulated dugout you've built so far. In the coming years as the foliage grows in, it will become almost invisible in the landscape. Sergio did an amazing job helping out on this build, chef, landscaper, carpenter, he did it all, lol. Spending time in a roughhewn cabin is amazing, but when it's a cabin you built yourself, that's gotta be incredible. This is YOUR home, you placed every beam, shoveled every bit of dirt, to be able to sit on a chair you built, at a table you built, sipping coffee from a stove you installed......that's heaven right there.
Wow! I can't imagine Sergio ever wants to see a piece of moss again! Bravo Sergio, that was an incredible amount of work covering the whole place with moss. Looks so good 👍 👍. Alex, could you spray paint the bright green tarp camouflage colors so it doesn't stand out? Just love watching your videos so much. Thanks.
I was surprised he got a green colored one? A brown one would have blended in better. Awesome build!! Can't wait to see how it gets decorated over time. I bet he will put up lights for Christmas :)
I’m making beef stroganoff for dinner tomorrow, but your recipe is quite different than mine 😊 The house is looking lovely, Alex. You and Sergio are putting your hearts into it and it shows.
HELLO ALEX AND SERGIO BOTH DOING A GREAT JOB 👍 SERGIO DONE AGOOD JOB OF CAMOUFLAGE THE SHELTER IT'S ALL TAKING SHAPE 👏 YOU BOTH WORK HARD A BIG CLAP 👏 🙌 BOTH HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND ANDREW SOUTH WALES UK 👍 👌 😀 🇬🇧
For the door you should bring some chicken wire and 4 small boards, Add the boards as ridges add moss then cover with the chicken wire. The moss will grow through the wire eventually hiding it. and the door will blend right into the walls.
Love the fact that you actually thought about proper ventilation, as well as improved heat shielding for the fireplace. That last bit is ridiculously important, and often overlooked in these types of videos.
@@readhistory2023 Exactly. I've got a wood-burning stove in the kitchen, a masonry heater in the living room, as well as another wood-burning stove in the bedroom. And they're all inspected annually by the chimney sweep, to make sure things like this are still in proper order.
@@debbiebeckstead9268 he gave it to a friend because once folk found out where it was they camped out at his dugout it was happening too much so he gave it to his friend and built this one on a bigger scale
Sergio has done a wonderful job covering the roof with the moss, awesome home you have now Alex.. love those varnished steps too, natural look.. both of you have done an awesome job, you should be so proud 😊❤🙏
Great job guy's keep the great work up! Hope you all make a combined video of all you done for a long video. Be safe and let the joy of the wild bring you happiness and enjoyment.
Well done Sergio! Amazing how much work Alex you and your friends have put in to building this house. Watching from Australia! Love the underground house. Is this your property Alex?
Very nice, just be careful not to be in the shelter during a heavy snowstorm because of the snow load on your exit door. I see you have a frost window you could use to get out also. Nice job on your new huge shelter.
my worry as well. That door is heavy as is, let alone under feet of snow. I think that whole entrance needs changing so it can accommodate a standard door at the bottom of the steps with the step area open.
@@jasonjlloyd Maybe split the door? Top half and bottom half? Like a Dutch door. Latch them together when there's no snow so they close as one, and unlatch them when there's snow so each one only weighs half as much.
Projects like your underground house are never done! Waiting for the next episode to see what’s going in the unfinished corner!? Everything looks very natural, nothing is out of place! Excellent!
Great work as always! The stairway door will make the shelter so secure at night! Your videos are so soothing and peaceful. They seem to be over so fast, and it is with sadness we have to leave such a wonderful abode again so soon. But that only leaves us looking forward to the next one. :-) So looking forward to winter videos in such a fantastic shelter!
Great job Sergio. You make the ground cover look like it’s always been there. You guys make a good team. I love watching work and cook. I will love it when you bring your family to see your hard work. Stay safe. From Oklahoma🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sergio you have taken on the most difficult part of this build in placing the moss on the surface. This will grow mushrooms and provide waterproofing to the sand along with stability. Awesome job and a exhausting job. Beautiful coverage
This is a beautiful shelter, that you and your friend built. So big and spacious, not like your other shelters. Lot of hard work went into it. Nice.. Best wishes and good health...
Well done Sergio and Alex! Everything looks great. I have two thoughts of concern: that door will be HEAVY and hard to open if a lot of snow accumulates on it; and I am still concerned about ventilation, since carbon dioxide is heavier than air and will not flow upwards through the ventilation pipes. Keep up the good work!
Cool l'idée de la fenêtre devant la porte !!! Et bravo à Sergio pour tout son travail, c'est important de bien isoler et camoufler la maison et ça prend beaucoup de temps ! 👋👋👋
My friend, in all the videos I've seen (all of them) in spite of all the places you sleep and all the work you do, this is the first time I have seen you look tired! Great opening, keep up the amazing work brother!
Great job thus far, but CAUTION; …. The birch bark covering you placed around your new air vent needs to be very loose, or be drilled for added holes, or you’ve defeated your purpose of air exchange.
Always look forward to your new stuff and imagine I'm there working on it too. A good winter idea might be to build a big stone (6 IN) wall around the wood burner. Rocks keep heat for a long time.
It's all looking wonderful Alex & Sergio! It's getting to be about that time to start thinking about furnishings, while you still can... A rug, some home built chairs, some cast iron pots & pans, cabinets, etc... 😁 Loving the new place! 💖
I was just complaining that my granddaughter was watching videos of kids playing instead of playing herself, now I’m watching a video of 2 guy’s playing in the woods and I’m no better than what I was complaining about. 😂😂😂😂😂
Watching your videos I feel an overwhelming feeling of companionship. We common folk are all the same. We all need to turn our eyes and ears from the loud voices of government to the beauty of nature and the needs of each other. I love your videos.
I don't know which is crazier...how elaborate that build was, or the amount of moss that poor guy had to carry. That was amazing. I thought some of your others were good, but this one is going to be hard to beat! What are you going to build next, high rise condos underground?
A hard to tell but I'm a little concerned that the widow doesn't have enough of a slant to drain rain water, turn into a pool and that the frame will eventually rot out.
I can't get over how quickly the build is getting close to completion!!! You two are doing such a fantastic job. The moss is outstanding! I am so excited to see the finished house.
Keep up the good work! In the US what you call awning is called a "Tarp" which is short for Tarpaulin a cover made of a large sheet of strong, flexible, water-resistant or waterproof material.
Sergio, great job on finishing laying the moss and filling in with more dirt. It turned out beautifully!!! 😊😊 Alex, great job on adding the door and I LOVE the addition of the window at the entrance!! Your structure was and is very well thought out. Also adding the bark cover over the ventilation pipe was genius!!. You men did an exceptional job and are such hardworkers!! Watching you two on this build has been extremely satisfying. Congratulations on its near completion. Thank you for allowing us to follow you on your journey!! God's continued blessings on you and your families. ❤❤🥰🤩😍👍🏼👍🏼✌🏽
Hello from Australia my friend I don’t know if you read these comments but I wanted to say I really look forward to seeing your videos especially your big dugout I unfortunately am to old to build my own so I have to live vicariously through your channel so please keep up the great work Thank you so much for your time Scott
Great vid. You do a really good job. Beautiful place and shelter. Very livable. See how good it is in a very few months when the rivers are froze and the snow is flying. That fox wlll climb down the chimney Sergio is a good worker. Window looks good, however it won't drain and water snow ice will build up on it. Get a piece of Lexan, Plexiglass, some kind of plastic glass and put over top of the whole frame to divert the water away. It has good tilt toward the walkway so that will help. Paint the frame good to to seal up the frame material. Or put a sealed shutter over it. Alex, I tink the door wore you out. Good job, just as I would have done. It's sealed pretty good. Maybe squirt some sealant in the cracks from the underside. The days are getting much shorter now. You may want some thin fire bricks to line the stove with. Good looking meal. Nice. Now some benches. Stove is too close to wall. For safety in needs to be 2 feet out. 600 cm. Wrap that sand paper around a block of wood. Burn your fingers off. Spray some paint on the tarp, camo it. Place is looking great. Hope no one finds it and bothers it. Next time.
❤ Hi Alex and Sergio. Another amazing video. Not only do I love Watching you build things, your creative photography and your beautiful music are Amazing And so professional. I’m excited to see your next video. Thank you! thank you!
I like to start my day with coffee also. Sergio is a very good worker he got all the moss done great job. The fox just wants to snuggle up with you to keep warm. LOL🤣🤣 This house is coming along fantastic. 👍👍
Danke, Thank you, Spacibo!
We also share our forest with wild animals . We get grey foxes all the time in our yard. The most animals we get is white tailed deer - lots of them. We just had a doe get on our deck looking for food scraps. So we gave her the scraps from Brussel sprouts, which I am having for lunch today.
Heyy Alex and Sergio you did a wonderful job on the house, Sergio great job on the outside placing the moss ,can't wait to see the finish product, stay safe
What you is wonderful and amazing to watch Alex. You are very creative and very skillful. Your friend Sergio is a very hardworking guy. The covering of earth with muss is a wonderful idea. Sergio had done an amazing Job. Many, many thanks for you both my friends.
Well done Alex and Sergio. The place is coming along brilliantly. Love the new door Alex and all the moss Sergio has put down. It looks fantastic and in keeping with nature. Your Beef Stroganoff with mashed potato looked delicious too. Can't wait to see you making it all more comfortable in future episodes with beds, bedding and pillows plus shelving and kitchen benching.
You guys are doing such an amazing job and I love this channel! Keep it up. Saying that, I could not stop laughing with Sergio Beef Stroganoff, when you said chop and fry the meat preferably pork! The clue is in the name…brilliant!!!
Hello Alex. I always look forward to your videos. There is always a warm fire and food by your side. I feel the fundamental human element. Take care of your body.
