This is my own solution for back mounting a Captain America shield, at the same time as maintaining that screen accurate look without an obvious magnet in the middle of the shield, and one behind the back harness.
Magnets used are from Magnet Expert/First4magnets and are these :-
www.first4magn...|ps_1_2518
Back brace is from Amazon and is this :-
Limited-time deal: Anoopsyche Posture Corrector for Women Men, Adjustable Upper Back Brace for Clavicle Support, Physical Therapy Posture Brace for Back, Shoulder & Neck Pain with Anti-scratch Pads(Universal) (Regular) www.amazon.co....

There’s a reason why I sized up to 26” from the regular 24” shield 😁

That is a brilliant solution! I have a metal shield hung on my wall that I originally wanted to use for cosplay events, but it was just too heavy for the harness to hold up correctly, so I bought a plastic shield for events, but there's nothing like the look of real metal. Your solution works perfectly! I already have the back brace. I just need to get the proper weights for the magnets and I'll be all set. Thank you so much!

Thanks for making a vid to share this knowledge! Finally got a good cap shield and I'm planning on making a costume in stages and this is exactly the sort of idea I was trying to figure out-magnets are not on the harness itself to allow for easy upgrades. I also was wondering the same thing abt the puck/cup magnets not sticking if they're slightly off.

Great video - awesome suit! Question, does a magnet that powerful create negative impact in hospitals? We've been worried that magnets might interfere with hospital equipment

Was not expecting the suit on. Wow! Can't wait to have my own end game suit one day.

Just ordered my magnets, thanks. Just need to see if I can use them whilst riding the bike there, lol. Think I'll probably add a couple of bungy cords to be sure, for the ride atleast

Im assuming the shield is aluminum? Mine is a cheaper metal one so i didnt even need a magnet on the shield.

This is quite the workaround to make the suit as screen-accurate as possible. The thing I have to figure out is how to apply this to Sam Wilson's outfit. I'm thinking of 3-d printing the backpack and gluing the magnet inside. I need to solve the problems of making sure that the shield is durable enough to withstand punishment, making holes on the side big enough to be able to slot the wings in and out of, and making sure the wings don't get in the way of the shield when I mount it on to my back. All while looking as screen-accurate as possible.

Do you think 32kg of pull is the perfect amount for this exact application with the metal shield? A bit much? Wish it was more? Thanks

Wow, seriously the best diy solution bar none. Too bad magnets are out of stock. Gotta ask, you ever get nervous if a kiddo would accidentally drop your shield?

Jonesy, I'm interested in how you went about weathering your suit, it look amazing! Any chance you could share...?
@jonesy9677

It was a lot of hours with an airbrush and Createx Illustration paints 😊 Started with black to tone things down a bit, then added sepia brown for some earthen staining, before a top coating of progressively lighter concrete grey. The rubber scales were weathered using stove polish, and then graphite powder for the tips of the scales to give them the metallic kind of sheen

Seems to rest somewhat off-center when it's on your back?

Did the shield ever get stuck to you end game back rig? I have followed your advice and worked out well but when I pulled down the shield it stuck to my backrig. Maybe I just need to pull it a bit quicker🤔.

I know of a couple of Caps who have done this with both the Anniversary shield from Marvel, and the Falcon and the Winter Soldier shield, both of which are plastic. Works even better because those aren’t as heavy as the metal shields

Hi I does this solution possibly work with 75th annversry sheild? Do I need the only one magnet for the harness or will I need all 3?
@jonesy9677
@jonesy9677 3 года назад
This will work with the 75th anniversary shield, but you will need one magnet on the shield and one on the harness under the costume
