He is just a slave to the fame and is a puppet serving the agenda. He thinks he escaped only to find out his old self is old and dead and he will never escape his judgment day of sacrifice. Shits sad and deep. He basically telling his own story of unhappiness and sadness. Plus he also hinting we are in a new time the old way of living is done a rebirth for the universe has happend.

he's actually optioning a television show to HBO about club owner who's a leader of a cult, so I wonder if he'll incorporate any of the lore from these albums into this show

I absolutely love your interpretation of this. I also struggle to see if his soul is being dragged out of him or if he is receiving a new one from source.
