HIDDEN TREASURE in the Grandma Nova (Deep Cleaning Results!)

The Grandma Nova that we got running in our last video receives a deep cleaning, which uncovered some great treasures! This included the BUILD SHEET, lots of funny grandma things, and the GM wax-treated polishing cloth. We polished on the paint a little bit and gave the interior a nice cleaning. The brakes got some attention, as did the belts, hoses and gas tank. We attempted an oil change and well...you'll see how that turned out.
This 1973 Nova four door was a super fun project and we sent it back home with Kyle for safe keeping. We're moving onto other projects, but it'll be tough to ever find one as easy as this one.

I bought a 1986 Toyota Camry from the estate of the grandmother of one our daughter's friends when she was in middle school. I was puzzled when going through the trunk why the grandmother would have a couple of slim jims in it. I was extremely curious what she did with them. It was a question I never found the answer for.

What an absolutely fantastic car. Real time capsule of a thing and it is awesome to see it getting some love. As for the escape from under falling car, my elbow bears the scar of working on rear brakes and a car falling off the stand. I have no expectation of sympathy for myself as the injury and fright was a product of my own misadventure/stupidity As you say, safety first.

It's so weird. I have a one owner 1971 Nova. 250 6 banger, powerglide transmission, two door, carpet and radio delete,Cottonwood green. The woman's name who owned it was Stella Harding. She was a school teacher at a local elementary school. So both green Novas , one owner and their first names being the same. I also had a 1979 Nova four door the same color as your foor door. I love your videos. Especially the Nova videos. Keep them coming.

Great video and car find! Too bad it's a more door, but I guess they are probably almost all that are left to find at this point. In my experience, once you use something like Armor All or other petroleum-based products on vinyl car interior pieces you need to continue using it regularly or the vinyl seems to decay much faster.

If you go to a good upholstery shop you can get them to repair that front seat with the original material and it will look as good as new and I hope you clean that thing up real nice and keep it to run around with both of your little girls you should that whole car before you put any wax on it be careful around the sharp edges because the paint will come back black car is worth getting the paint match and put in the original wheels back on it and keeping it 100% original car is closed as you can get it

I owned a 73 Nova, also in green like this one, 2-door with a 307. Traded it in on a 78 Nova, which turned out to be a rustbucket. But they were both dependable, basic transportation - the 78 had a 305 in it with a 4-speed. Looked spiffier than it actually was - lol.

That is definitely a cool Nova! Cleaned up very well!! 👍👍 Of course, 1973 was the first year of the new styling, until it was changed again in 1975. New grille, tailights, etc. They kept the 68-72 shape, just updated it. Very nice! Thanks for sharing. 😎

uncovered a build sheet on an 83 celeb I had. something told me to lift the back seat cushion. I found 3.50 in change and FOUR copies stapled to the underside (with one loose). the only things added to stock were the automatic and "maple red" body pinstripes.

Honestly, if you're doing wheel cylinders, and already jacking up the car, why not put a set of new, cheap shocks on it? If you're already ordering from Rockauto, you can literally get front and rear KYB shocks for $20-25 each. Or you could get ACDelco for $25-30 each. Seems like a stupid thing to omit, if I'm being honest. Are you just too impatient to wait for the parts to come in so you can do all these jobs at once, or are you really that cheap? I suppose you must really be that cheap, since you said you wanted to avoid putting on a new master cylinder "at all costs". Yet, master cylinders only cost $50 or less for this car at Rockauto. So is $50 really too much for you to spend to make sure the car drives safely? I'm having a hard time understanding your logic on this.
@HotRodHoarder
@HotRodHoarder 11 месяцев назад
Shocks are the last thing on my mind when it comes to getting an old car back on the road. I am definitely THAT cheap, especially when it’s not my car or my budget. My friend let me play with his car so I didn’t want him to spend a bunch of money if it wasn’t needed. I did the bare minimum to make the car drivable.

Wow! My first car was a '69 Nova 307 2dr, a hand me down from my mom. My dad and I spent weekends and summers in '89 and '90 - a year before this one was parked - and it needed EVERYTHING. Floors, trunk floor, lower quarters, engine rebuild, transmission, most of the interior, lots of bodywork. To think that this 4 year older car was parked a year later and was in that condition is incredible. And now that its survived ANOTHER 32 YEARS in that condition is beyond incredible. Thank you for appreciating this beautiful survivor!

Oh, and the gas tank. Only reason it didn't get replaced was about 2 years before my mom gave it to me, she was filling the tank and it started pouring gas everywhere so she had my dad find another in a junkyard to replace it.
