Hidden, Unused And Beta Content in Pokémon XD: Gale Of Darkness

Kind of interesting that the lab basement has a bridge added across the chasm that doesn’t exist in Colosseum.

Presumably, Gale of Darkness was made by editing Pokemon Colosseum, as that would be the easiest way to copy over whole locations, Pokemon designs, etc. So it's not really a surprise if they failed to delete some of the leftover colosseum data. It doesn't necessarily mean that any of that was planned for Gale.

That colosseum you couldn't walk in is shown at the start of the game during the mock battle with Metagross and Salamence.

Just imagine a switch game with both Colosseum and Gale of Darkness with an exclusive sequel to the latter. Something like Henry Stickmin or Mario 3D All Stars

The unused Snagem hideout entrances were probably from the intro to Coliseum. When Wes blows up the hideout to steal the Snag machine Same for the office woth no collision

17:40 I think that version of it is from the cutscene in the opening of Colosseum where the main character runs out and then the grunts run out after him. It makes sense that the door would only need to open just long enough for the character model to run through and then the camera would be too far away to even notice the looping. It might even be from just one split-second frame of the character running out the door I'll have to rewatch that scene to know for sure.

I feel like they just used Colosseum as a base for XD, the Snagem hideout stuff looks as if it was due the explosion from the prequel. Probably taken out because they would’ve referenced his dad in a lot of specific ways that I believe were meant to be left somewhat mysterious to the character you play as - that and to make the character more universally appealing to the general player, rather than just adding that specificity to the backstory. Perhaps you were meant to navigate through the gas from the damaged building, running into more poison types or maybe it was to be an obstacle for you to go through, but they didn’t have time. Orre was referred to as an ancient colosseum in the game, so that lines up with the file label. Anyway, thank you for this. I found that same page, but had no means of accessing it myself (as my good computer is down). Kudos to you, sir.

The 2nd unused Ancient Colosseum MIGHT be from the Pokemon Colosseum menu screen. It's been a while but i seem to remember the menu being in some sort of ruined colosseum

Just imagine being able to port full the under from Colosseum and expanding the story playing events of Colosseum in XD

Nice video man! Also one addition: I think the poké center room in Phenac without the counter lady is actually used in the game due to the cypher attack on phenac where they replaced everybody, so the poké center has basically 2 rooms, one with counter lady and one without it.

Way late to the party, but you replacing areas in XD, and the similarity between the 2, makes me wonder if I could directly port an area from Colosseum to the XD, or vice versa. Also, has anyone ever looked into character model replacement, be it by Gameshark/Gecko code or direct file replacement? I used to do all kinds of crazy stuff with 3D Nintendo DS games in that regard. (Like I replaced the Dragon Quest Monsters:Joker Main Character with a dinosaur and hacked it's animations together. Was great except for climbing ladders; the animations directly controlled character movement, and monsters don't have climb anims)

I've been playing this game again recently and was wondering about secrets and uncut content, so thank you :) Gotta say that the video itself was a freaky experience for me tho, nothing personal btw. i believe the original story for XD was supposed to have Wes go rouge and make him the antagonist for this game, but it was scrapped because the theme would have been to heavy for kids. Probably explains why the Under cutscenes still exist, and why the snagem hideout has unused scenes where its on fire. maybe Wes would have gone back to destroy the hideout.
