Epic brother! I would like anyone to point to a RU-vidr that gets out and does it more than this guy!! Beautiful waterfall and well done for finding it. Google maps messes with me at the best of times. voted!
Wow looking at all that desert chaparral and surrounding hillside you would never guess there would be such an oasis with an awesome falls like that. Pretty cool exploring!
Haha I live near there. You hiked into the peoples property past that fence gate. Just above that to the left theres a small trail with signs that guides you past the homes without walking past their gate. The forest service people will tell you not to walk into their property there with the gate that divided into 2 roads. The first set of homes is allowed, the homes with the Avocado farms yes too. Once you are at the oil rig you are past all the private property. To new people don't take the Avocados they will hunt you down! jk...but don't do it.
@@JesseStLouis Oh yah I forgot the Avocados are over there. Haha glad they cleaned up Punch Bowl from all those stupid people messing up the trails. Got them mixed up. But still when you pass the first set of homes they are chill about it. But the last homes once you past the rock bridge the nice lady keeps up on. You hike a bit and get to a fork road, one goes up the hills to the left Forest Rte 5N13 , and the other goes to a closed off gate. If you take the road that goes to the left theres a small hiking trail that goes behind the peoples properties.... I hear those people are not so welcoming. Either way its not like they have a say so in the matter.
Went up here last week. Definitely still enough water to splash around, but a lot less than what you see in this video. Trail is in better shape though.
My wife and I are headed out to that area, being it's a National Forest you can camp there as long as you're 100' from the water, did you see any signs of dispersed camping? Cool video.
This is a sick place one of my favorites! I haven't been there since the fire. There is a total of 5 waterfalls if you keep going. Probably really hard to keep going since the fire but not to many did before the fire either. Awesome video. There are alot of cool hikes in Ojai.
@@JesseStLouis ok ya because when I got to the end last time my drone launched but wouldn’t go up past a certain height it was like there was an imaginary wall
Just above that last waterfall you went into there is the main waterfall all you have to do is climb over it there is a rope which you can see to your right once your at the top you'll see it it's beautiful :)
You may not realize that when at those waterfalls, you were in a earthquake fault zone as seen by all the layers of horizontal and wavy strata. It's always a give away.
I did this hike earlier this month solo. ( This video inspired me) and went through every obstacle it was an amazing adventure. Thank you for these videos. I also did Santa Paula Punch Bowls a while ago and omg what a beautiful journey ! Keep Exploring these amazing waterfalls !
Great video. This first waterfall you approached were on the north fork of the trail I think. Me and a buddy did an overnight trip and took the fork that heads north never reaching bigger waterfalls, next time I will go the other way. Thanks for sharing.
New subscriber. 1,175 views? Come on folks. (Well, been on youtube for a few years now & I'm just discovering you--so I guess it's somewhat self-explanatory--based on that.) In any case, great videos. Thanks for posting.
That’s actually the first of 5 waterfalls stacked on top of one another hard to tell when your below but they are just past the one you stopped at and are by far the best and the last one has a large cave above it you can climb to (little sketchy tho) and a pond at the bottom and it’s weird being in a pond on the edge of a cliff
Awesome. You missed a few cool spots. I travel all over the country searching for the best hidden amazing spots. It be awesome to hike with you seems like you're crazy adventurous like myself.
Thanks Dan. Yeah I know there's more up that canyon. I was actually looking into doing the whole canyon from the top and rappelling all the waterfalls. Would probably be a multi day affair. I'll keep you in mind for when I return to the states!
@@JesseStLouis rapelleing those falls will be awesome. I'm thinking of doing the Santa Anita area this week but it might be closed. I probably have to move my GPS somewhere else. Awesome, let me know when you return stay safe out there my friend.
+Jesse St Louis Oh wow I heard there was a few more but I didn’t know it was that many. I’ve been to the 2 above them but never any further. There was a rope on the left hand side that took you up to a high point but we couldn’t find anywhere to go from there & it was sketchy the rope was super frayed. Best of luck, I look forward to seeing the video!
We went, but couldn’t find it. Followed the creek, but next time. It looks so different after all the rain we had this season. There was a seasonal waterfall we saw though. It was beautiful!
Born and raised in Ojai 40+ years... it was actually my junior high school as well. You are not pronouncing Matilija correctly... :-( First time I heard someone say it that way. It's actually "MA-TIL-I-HA". Nice video tho
Mah-tall-EE-ha, lol, I literally cut most of that brush to get there. BTW that easement you walked through, the owner’s name is buzz and he’s an asshole. You are correct after 4 years of no maintenance the land is free to access by the public through the blue heron property.
