Thats why we called the "Teutonen" or "Teutsche", later after reformation of language to "Deutsche". We still have in our language for wish of luck the phrase to say "Teu Teu Teu". "German" was a name giving by foreigners, it comes from a weapon called the Ger, which was a Spear. So Ger-man , literally means Spear-man.
