...this unit can be used with Rockbox: The only features that are not available in Rockbox are bluetooth and USB-DAC mode. The player can be booted into the original firmware to use these features.
Just wanted to stop by and say thanks, been looking at one on Amazon. I've got a good player but the volume is pants. Just like you I have hearing problems, I'm ok it's just certain frequencies I can't hear due to working in very loud factories in my youth. And just like you I don't care about quality of sound as long as I can hear it and enjoy it. Thanks for stating that in the video, most, well almost all reviewers don't cover that kind of thing in a video, so thanks for being honest and covering this kind of subject. Ordered one now looking forward to getting it tomorrow. Once again thank you It's been helpful more than you'll know.
Hi - I know you did this a year ago - thanks fot the review. I'm thinking of getting one but i'll be using it for audiobooks as well as music. Sometimes you get an audiobook in a single track that might be like 8 hours long - are you able to scrub through a track with the jog-wheel? Thanks!
Can you turn the internal speakers off? Or: does the music switch to the built-in speakers when your headphones are suddenly removed or connection to them is lost?
Thank you so much for probably the most detailed video about that player. Thinking about this one versus the Surfans F20. Cost the same but the F20 is supposed to play ALAC (Apple Lossless) as well, which would be very convenient. Have you tried putting on an ALAC encoded file on the H2? And how does the H2 scroll with huge artist lists? Does it eventually scroll in larger steps when you keep spinning the wheel?
You should look into RockBox. It's a custom firmware that can be ran on both of those and it allows playback of any file type and tons and tons of options.
Great video just discovered "the wheel" I'm having issues playing some of my songs. The player reads file unsupported. The computer when scrolling to properties reads Mp3 yet the player won't play when dragged and dropped.Any suggestions🤔
What did you mean when you said they're going to discontinue the DAC? Did you mean they're going to manufacture the H2s with a new DAC? Is it going to be a downgrade or an upgrade? I'm wondering if they changed it yet, knowing that you posted this video 7 months ago.
I just found this mentioned in another comment to another video and it works: in any list that is in alphabetical order (Songs/Artist/Albums for example) you can press the menu button for like half a second and an alphabet list will pop up which you can use to navigate. Doesn't work when navigating in the SD directory but there you can use long press on the arrows to move faster.
I'm not satisfied because the sound sucks with bluetooth when I put on my speaker and my wireless headphones I add them to 100 and nothing helps the sound is really not strong it's just good with headphones with a wire . I don't know what else to do
Actually my experience with BT is quite the opposite. I use the KZ ZS10 Pro (with adapter TRN BT20XS) and the sound is amazing (better than Fiio X1). Maybe you forgot to set the high quality setting of the bluetooth connection to "on" (under system settings)..and you can also set the gain to "high" (instead of standard setting "low")..
Anyone get a confirmed Bluetooth aptx connection with this HiFi walker? just bought one and expected to connect it to a Bluetooth transmitter setting behind my TV that confirmed does have aptx, it has an LCD screen and shows connection type. I can tell when I watch TV that sound is in sync with people talking or its not. This HIFI walker does not output sound in sync with people talking on the TV. This HiFi walker will not get an aptx connection. I have another transmitter/receiver that has aptx also and it will not connect in aptx mode to the HIFI walker ether. The HiFi walker with Bluetooth 4.2, I think is the problem. Everything else is 5.0 or above. This HiFi walker will not connect to my LG TV at all, it is brand new. While not a problem, It is telling me the 4.2 Bluetooth is probably the issue. The HIFI walker needs upgraded to 5 or above Bluetooth. Not happy about this but I do like the HIFI walker and the sound though out of sync with people talking it is not that bad. Might keep it might return it, not sure. Looking for something Bluetooth that I can plug in wired headphones to with a volume adjustment feature. Not easy to find. I thought this HIFI walker would be it then I could use the MP3 feature while doing other things or sync it to my car or truck as carplay sucks... in sooo many ways.
