What's even more amazing is the real people they did this with back in the day. John Paul Stapp was a pioneer in studying the effects of acceleration and deceleration forces on humans. In one of his final rocket-propelled rides, Stapp was subjected to 46.2 times the force of gravity.

It is amazing that he survived. Seems like a human body shouldn't be able to take that. When I was an aviation student, the most I could somewhat-comfortably handle was 3Gs
@smgdfcmfah
@smgdfcmfah Год назад
@@SacredRat No one thought the human body could survive that before he started his testing. It was extremely short duration, of course, but still. The tests are what let them know that a pilot could survive ejecting from an aircraft at Mach speeds if done correctly.

@@smgdfcmfahWow that's amazing, I know some pilots that emergency eject have actually got spine problems and damage from it, it seems very scary I'm glad they are doing controlled tests to better help and save our pilots....
@smgdfcmfah
@smgdfcmfah 11 месяцев назад
@@devvaughn8817 True. Ejecting is NOT a walk in the park, but the rocket ejection seat has to be very fast and powerful in order to make sure the pilot will clear the tail of the aircraft even at Mach speed - and also propel him to a minimum parachute deployment height if he is forced to eject while still on the tarmac or as he rolls off a carrier.

16 Gs is fuckin insane
@mrspecs9211
@mrspecs9211 Год назад
It is, but it’s only a short burst of Gs. F1 drivers or nascar drivers endure more than that in short bursts, when they crash. 16 Gs sustained would be fuckin insane, that’s raptor-level manuverability
@devvaughn8817
@devvaughn8817 11 месяцев назад
Most pilots that actually have to emergency eject can actually experience spine problems and damage, it's very dangerous I hear...

I find it funny with telling us the ejector seat is expensive (50k-100k). But if an ejector seat is used the fighter jet is destroyed and some of those are worth millions
