Is it okay to aim for perfection with certain things like writing an essay? For my essays I would like to get full marks as it’s just something that would make me proud as it is a great accomplishment for me and I also find joy in having a thorough understanding of literary texts, I don’t think it’s unhealthy I was just wondering what your opinion would be? I would not be disheartened if I got less than full marks I just believe I may be capable of it and always want to do my best, of course as long it is not a detriment to my health.
My suggestion is that rather than aiming for perfection, you aim for excellence. I don’t see the two is the same thing, because perfectionism often says, “My best is never good enough.” Excellence is about learning and growing and doing your best at something that is meaningful to you, which it sounds like you are doing.
