My brother with fine gold from another county, Thank you but you need to run the sawtooth mat during clean up's at 6 degrees and run the bilge pump speed controller at around 800 gph. I run the water flow on our beach at 800 gph "magic number with super fine gold" when running in the field with running 10 square feet of sluice and less migration. Darn flat small light weight gold pieces AGH. Try that, you see the that fine gold stays. And it never hurts to throw in some jet dry to help when dong that at home. Love the gold you are getting, as it is the same as us. Nice spot you found....go get it you found a really good spot. Thanks for the mention!
@VoGusProspecting

I'll do just that! Thank you. I had it at 6 degrees too before the video, then insisted the legs. Go figure. I'll install a that controller soon!

Also I don't use jet dry as it's super toxic to dogs.

Hey Chris, I was unaware you had invasive Gorse bushes in Australia. The thorny buggers are a right pain in the arse ain't they? However, if you're interested, I hear the flowers make a nice tea or wine, and the wood, while not big enough for real lumber, is rot resistant and durable. (A useful feature for small tool handles exposed to the weather.) Heck, walking stick makers in the UK charge a couple hundred bucks for a furze (gorse) walking stick. Best way to clear out your awesome spot is to find a good use for the nasty stuff... It's Murphy's Law of gardening in action: once you find a use for it, it will start to die off.

Hey Chris, just a tip with the batea pan... Don't let the material go all of the way to the edge of the pan when you go to check it. Tip it slowly. Before any material gets to the edge, stop and rotate the pan slowly. The fines should settle on the pan over more surface while the loose gravels and residual water rolls out. This is especially helpful when working fine and chunky gold in general, but would probably be even more beneficial in areas where there's less than average black sands & heavies. You paid for the whole pan -- you might as well use it. lol

Hey Chris, not that I think its anyway detrimental to the creek, because of floods and such....because your last highbanking episode saying don't run into creeks, Oi.... but you have taught me so much..... legend!!👍👍👍
@VoGusProspecting
@VoGusProspecting 3 года назад
I also said "where possible", because as we all know its not always possible to put tailings into a pond. As we both know, floods do more than my highbanker.

I worked a very rich prospect where soil samples often ran 25-50ppm Au in a few places. We striped these back and could easily hand pan 2 gm from 10 big pans, but very very fine, a few chunks now and then. I bought a small kerne backpack dredge thinking I'll kill it and gets ounces. Happily set up and ran the dredge all day..... practically no gold, no practical adjustments could fix the issue, some chunks but all the fines blown out, so 90% of the gold gone. Super fine gold is very hard to capture in a dredge, there are some other methods such as puddling and super pans or even mercury coated copper plates, but I haven't seen anybody utilise these in recent times. Good luck with your prospect.

Worst part about digging in the creek bed - the murk that stops you from being able to see what you’re doing Also using a length of rebar to break up the gravels can be easier than a pick when your hole gets deeper

Watching your video, encourage myself to have a go at panning, seeing that I live only a short distant from the Gulf digging. On my first day I meet 2 fellow snipers and enjoy their company at the end of the day. The next time I went panning I had a run in with a land owner telling me to get off her land. I did my research and were I was was legal. It was a creek crossing a public road. I query her with a "are you sure". Her reply was I am calling the police. I reply "go for it" for you will be the one copping a fine. Because that Polaris you are driving is not allow to be driving on a public road. After offering this advice she spat it and tore off up the road and I went back to prospecting and the police never turn up. I did not realise how entertaining panning was. Thanks Vogas.

Hey chris. One of the tricks I've used to avoid splashing myself in the face with the pick is to somewhat drag the pick through the water as it makes contact with the surface. I just bring my hands in a little closer to my body as the tip of the pick hits the water and it throws the splash forward instead of straight up in my face.
@VoGusProspecting

100% do that myself. However this ground is like cement so it does not work without hitting it.

Just wondering (this question is for anyone out there), when is the point when your high banker or sluice full and starts to push gold out the bottom? 3/4 full? Totally full? 1/2 full? I understand it would have to do with angle and water flow, but at what point do you check?
