Finally got to watch this video and I’m not motivated but more confused. I’m bored outta my mind so I might as well type out some questions. 1. What makes myo the best pitcher to pick in y’all’s opinion? Is it the hitting? To me, myo in nlo is the last of the heavy fb pitchers id want just bc there’s only one other option in the changeup that doesn’t even move. Id personally rank them mileman, unkai, kiba, myo, and tbh id prob take alan before myo. With all of those pitchers, you have other options that move to try to get them to chase other than just a fb or a slower ball. I mean it’s not like it’s a big difference between them in arm talent, but enough where id look past the hitting and towards them instead. 2. Why is oda so high on y’all’s draft boards???? Like yea he’s good imo but he’s not the best at anything. He’s a great hitter but I think there’s multiple ppl who are better than him at the plate imo, he’s a good pitcher but nowhere near top tier, and he’s a good defender but he’s not at a necessary position. I mean i feel like just on my team R3 raigou is a similar hitter and fielder to him, and R8 Shiroyama is a slightly worse level pitcher but not by alot, I mean the only spot I see oda having the advantage is risp. I understand he brings an 8th arm to the roster, but I don’t understand the value of that 8th man, especially when that 8th arm isn’t even that great, are y’all really not comfortable with/blasting thru all 7 pitchers? Ofc oda is a good arm so that doesn’t necessarily apply, but I still don’t understand picking him over an amazing pitcher, or toy who can cover the field and make anyone look like a good pitcher. That’s not taking into account that I just personally do not like chaser on nlo, I feel like it screws up alot of my bloops lol I survive off the weak contact. Idk im sure y’all have great reasoning that would make me look stupid, and there’s probably stuff that I just don’t see, but those are my personal thoughts. Really sorry I typed out this long аss message I’m bored outta my mind this is the only thing I can do 😂

1) the heavy fb pitchers should pretty much only be throwing the heavy fb anyway. and of the offspeed pitches, myojin's is the best anyway, changeups are gross when paired with high velo. However, the heavy fb pitchers are in a tier of their own, so can't fault anyone for preferring one over the other. Alan, I'd only include close to the heavy fb 4 because of his OF playability, as OF is so thin, but I do think he is not as good of a pitcher as the other 4. 2) Oda is certainly not the best hitter, but he was rated that high because he is a viable pitcher that doesn't count toward the 7 pitcher limit while still being a top 10 hitter that can play a position that is very thin. It is mostly a risk management thing, for example, Game 2 for us this upcoming series could be very dicey pitcher situation if Game 1 is a slugfest or goes to extras. We will likely see more situations like Bonda needing to go 9 this season, and that was lucky it wasn't a mercy game. However, as seen in this league, a lot of people don't like the lower contact / high power guys (+ add chaser which can throw people off), so I can see why he fell to frisk

@@iPumpPlastic 1. I see, I kinda disagree with the fact you should only throw the heavy fb, as it gets predictable, and the best are gonna get their contact hits off it if they know what’s coming. I feel like I learned this lesson in lancers invitational, when almost everyone ended up going myo as their main ace and I picked kiba, who I just felt was alot harder to hit due to the forkball alot of the time, and is imo the reason I won both times. A lot of the ppl were getting alot of pokes into shallow OF but I felt like I was holding ppl down to grounders. I just like the ability to be able to have a ball move outside the zone if I need, even if it’s something small like daigo’s splitter/hard shuuto. I see where you are coming from tho, bc 90% of ppl aren’t gonna be able to really hit them anyway. Ig that all also depends on pitcher skill too bc ofc you aren’t gonna wanna try to throw an off speed in the zone often. I def don’t think there is necessarily a wrong decision , just personally I’ve felt the least comfortable pitching myo in a nlo setting. Also don’t know how true it is but even with B control it feels like his fb jumps around alot more than most other pitches if it isn’t timed perfectly. I mean on the other hand myo is the best slugger of all of them and can also play 1B/corner OF if you really need it so that’s the reason he would be picked over them imo. But you’re right, the changeup is nasty and it’s not like you should be throwing anything other than fb most of the time, although I feel crappy when im up big and still using that fb. I mean picking a choosing between those top pitchers is cherry-picking, so it really comes down to personal preference imo, although I don’t see why mileman seem to always drop further than I expect, kiba also fits the bill this szn too but I feel like it has been consistently mileman that falls down the board. 2. I understand, I’ve just gotten lucky ig that I my pitching rest hasn’t gotten screwed lately, although the 2 inning ff against yg definitely helped the rest lmao. I feel like I’ve just gotten lucky I found a pitching staff that I feel fits my playstyle and what I’m going for very well, even if the pitchers themselves aren’t seen as particularly good by anyone. I really only feel uncomfortable with sana going up, but she rarely gets the call and I see players pitching worse arms consistently, and have multiple worse arms than sana on the roster, so I do see oda being viable in a situation like that, or someone like yg who has a position player at pitcher. I also have never thought of 3B being thin, I was thinking that was gonna be where I scored either my top hitter (which is what happened) or one of these low contact players that were gonna slide low just bc ppl are scared (like I did with maximum). I def do agree with OF being thin so he can be used out there, but toy kinda solves that problem by himself, as well as he just fits my personal playstyle of playing small ball, and while he’s not even near the same level of slugger oda is, he’s got some power, 79 power with slugger is not bad. I mean i definitely see the value, and he could definitely help me when I get the bad mood bug, but he fits y’all’s playstyle as power hitters alot better. I feel like alot of ppl would not have been able to properly use oda to his full abilities. Plus chaser I feel fits yall alot better than someone like me, bc most of my hrs catch alot of plate, and chaser would force all those slight balls that I can slide past an infielder or make land shallow outfield would turn into line drives to OFers. But yea I definitely see the value but I think it would take a specific type of player to pick oda 1st and actually be worth it. With that being said, how much further down is a player like yakyumask? Ofc I’m sure you didn’t agree with them being taken over oda but was it a big reach in your opinion? They are similar in alot of ways but yakyumask is a worse slugger, prob a better pitcher although he actually counts as a pitcher which is the big thing about that, and he’s a better fielder at a more important position in baseball, although I think there are plenty of usable catchers so it doesn’t matter nearly as much as it looks on paper.

@@CompassUPNEXT the heavy weight fastball pitchers do have a sneaky worse control I believe, think it is something to do with the original pitch properties. I think frisk uses these kind of pitchers best, very tough to do anything with those borderine fastballs just out of the zone. Also, I was indeed referring to Oda playing outfield vs 3B. I do think Toy is a fine pick, as he as elite defensive OF while still being a solid hitter, and obvi OF is the thin position. As far as Yakyumask, I do think it is a bit of a reach to take him before all the original fastball pitchers. He is the best catcher, and the dropoff from him and D. Deita to the others is pretty large, but I certainly think there are many serviceable catchers that I wasn’t too worried about trying to snag a catcher early (although then I did turn around and probably reach on F. Deita, so I can’t really talk). Basically, I can see why he was drafted early, but the two-ways that are actually pitchers so they don’t have that unique situation of Oda not counting towards the limit. There were certainly better pitchers available, but really his draft board spot depends on how you view the catcher position ig

I’m the one who was pushing Oda 1-1 so I can answer that one, I do not think he is the best player, but I think in the draft his utility would have made *me* pick him 1-1 because you get a top tier power bat, who can play the OF (thinnest position) and also an arm who could be #4 on most teams. like I have one of the best staffs and he would be my 3 or 4, I also didn’t think people would draft as poorly as they did (and by that I mean just ignore that it’s no lock) so I was worried pitching would be thin by the time it got back to 1-1 On your OG fastball comment I think myojin is way better than say a High B/ Low A arm like Mileman when playing no lock because of the changeup to just mess with timing if you mix them well, I mean we saw Mileman get lit up in the Deuce and those lineups were weaker than top lineups in this league

@@bfarrell10 WHAT????? I swear we need to have a high council compass collab on a pickem because the stuff y’all are saying is crazy to me and it’d definitely draw reactions from me. I don’t understand at all how mileman is a high B/low A tier arm, imo there’s no way you can even make an argument he or any of the other heavy fb pitchers are below S. Ngl I do not even remember facing mileman in the duece, but I remember slime getting him. Was he an exact copy of mileman? No disrespect to slime but I don’t really view him as a top pitcher, I’m def much more afraid of his hitting. I also think his defense could’ve had something to do with that, we all know his team is trash. If mileman is low A/High B to you, id hate to hear how you feel about daigo, bc in my mind daigo is just a way worse version of mileman, and he’s still low S imo. Also ik you didn’t say this but someone said hokuto is like a high B/low A arm, how much do you agree with that, and how much is the dropoff between mileman and hokuto to you? And to oda, I def see your point in the util, alot of ppl def could’ve used someone like him in the pitching department, honestly I’m more open to him being #1 on the list but I still think it takes a specific type of player like the ones in high council to make him worth #1, idk if there’s many other ppl that could do that, maybe zumi could if he switched some of his hits to slime hits, but even the best contact hitters like penguin I don’t think he could use oda to that potential and would be better off with toy.
