What's your favourite High Elf Unit?

Total War Warhammer made Warhammer fantasy affordable. All we need now is the ability to make our own faction compositions, heraldry and colors.

One thing you missed out with the Phoenix Guard is that they actually cause fear, due to the fact that they literally never make a single sound and frankly when you're in the middle of a battle, that sh*t is absolutely spine-crawlingly creepy. If I'm right, they also have physical resistance or a ward save too, as I know they have that on the tabletop.

Hey mate, nice video you put together here. I have two suggestions though. Speak a wee bit slower and pause for a short moment between talking points. It will be much easier to follow your talking points and all non-native English speakers will appreciate it. To drive my point home, look at how Zerkovich talks and how he paces his video, that is a good reference point in my book. Second point (allthough that might be personal preferance): The background music was a bit too loud and energetic for my taste. I came here for information and your perspective on the HE, not to get all pumped up and start a murder spree in Khaines name. This is meant as productive critisism, I am not mocking you in any way.

So according to Legend, the only units you should use are spearmen and archers then sisters of avelorn.

I have searched all over youtube for guides like this that also focus on the campaign great stuff keep up the good work

1 Eagle Claw + 10 Shielded Sea Guard + 8 Sisters of Avelorn + Lord (Ideally a Spellcaster/Princess) = The ultimate defense army, in my experience. Really pricey, but if you drop them in a chokepoint (ideally a city) they'll hold it against basically anything except chaos cannon stacks (in which case I'd swap 2 Sea Guard and 4 Sisters for Shadow Warriors to ambush them). It's basically a fireworks display that melts 90% of an enemy horde before it can even fight back. It's gross, glorious, and pretty much a "set them up and go afk" level of easy that can take on 2-3 enemy armies at once and come away with a few minor booboo's.

Love your videos, as always. Specially the latest ones where you speak much slower and give a longer brief about every unit in the roster. Anyway, great video :)

In my experience - spearmen are good pretty much only for holding the line, but at least they can do it very well, especially if buffed with some life magic. The primary weakness of High Elves is that they lack staying power. Most of the high tier infantry lack shields or have some other weaknesses. Silverin Guards are decent, but outshined by more damaging units - they are basically glorified spearmen in the end. Sea Guard with shield are amazing in terms of versatility and are a true "do it all" type of unit, but they lack the numbers needed for a true frontline. That said, very early in the game, a humble spearman unit is surprisingly good at sieges. Their low attack values matter little against ranged units when assaulting the walls, they will simply outlast them, while still remaining reasonably safe from return fire from any units below the walls. As for Reavers - I had no real luck with them. They are too squishy and micro-intensive. Since your primary enemies early on are Dark Elves, this is a problem. They are basically only able to deal with regular Darkshards in straight combat, even the shield variant will cause them trouble without excessive cycle-charging, not to mention anything stronger.

Am I the only one that hears him referring to the Sisters of Avelorn as Sisters of Athel Loren? Also the great eagles can cause fear not sure if your brought it up. Otherwise good and informative, you just got yourself a new subscriber.

A full army of shadow walkers is so op that you don't even have to macro them most of the battle, they do suck at siege assault thought.

Has anyone else had issues with phoenixes when playing as HE? Their resistances make Sisters and dragons useless against them while normal archers can't do enough AP damage to prevent them from reaching the back lines. They're pretty much free to drop their fire bombs all over my army -_-

What about the rangers, did they come out later than ghis video?

silver helms do NOT have anti inf bonus. maybe better vs inf because of their stats like mass. much higher collision damage because of that

So you're saying use the White lions as a front line but have them supported with spearman?

I have two questions for you. 1: would you update your faction guides for all factions when game 2, is finished? 2: would you look into SFO and make some guides there? I mean I know it's a mod but I think it makes the game more interesting. Also some units are more useful

Very informative, thanks! Personally it was a bit hard for me to understand though, particularly the accent (from my perspective). Did you speed up your talking too? It seems a bit sped up. Was much easier to understand when I turned playback speed to 0.75, even if some things sounded a little weird then. Subtitles helps too. But yeah want to emphasize it's a good video! I'm a native English speaker and cannot understand 40% of what you say. It's not only that you speak fast (I can handle that), but far more that you don't enunciate. Overall, this is incomprehensible, I'm afraid. A pity, as it looks like the content is great and you really know your stuff - delivering a lot in a brief video.
