Being a Cali girl born and raised for 40 years then moving to N Alabama I can say I do love all the little antique stores here better and of course our cheaper prices 😀
I feel like this is why we watch RU-vid. All of the store hauls are…well, anyone can go to a store and shop, but for those of us who like to DIY for fun and need more budget friendly options, having tutorials are so helpful! Inspiring and helpful. These items turned out so well! I would have never thought of doing “the dirt trick” on wood, but I love the results!
I also watch Lone Fox. Love these dupes and your process! You could dupe and sell these at craft shows etc… make lots of money and make some people REALLY HAPPY! This deserves a follow up or series! Or I’m just finding you as I searched for this particular store’s dupes and found yours! Hands DOWN WIN!
Emily, another wonderful video!! I've told you this before, but I absolutely LOVE your channel!! I'm in awe with how perfect the mud worked on that stool!! So gorgeous!! You are incredibly talented and such an inspiration!! And it's so great to see you and your husband (and the boys) working together on these projects!! Keep the diys coming!! ❤ 😊
I quite like both projects!!! If I may offer one tip, when you’re putting paper-mache on the outside of a bowl, draw a line around the bowl on parchment paper or whatever type of paper or plastic you’re using, make the line about 1” around the perimeter of the bowl and use that as your guide for the thickness of your sides. Using the paper it may not be necessary to make it an inch, but, follow that same thickness all over the bowl. Using a level, put it on the bottom of your dish and use it to level the bottom of the bowl before adding your ring. All in all, I think you did a pretty good job and like the colours when you were finished. Thanks for sharing.
Isn't Olive Atelier to die for? Your dupes were great, especially the stool. I made a little garden bench out of some really beat up bits of wood (with the "mud technique") and I love it.
I love how the dirt stain turned out for the wood!!! It’s the exact color I love but when I look for Inspo pictures can rarely find! For the bowl I wonder how it would have turned out if you used tea instead of plain water? And if you wanted a smoother finish you could sand it!
WOW! That was just amazing!! I loved this! You are not only the Queen of mud but now of paper mache and Flour!! You must be so happy with the results. Show us where you put them and how you styled them!
Really been enjoying your videos. The stool and bowl came out so good!! You are very creative and good at what you do. Thanks for sharing!! Blessings Raindown!!
Absolutely love your creativity, I ran across your channel when I wanted to recreate a faux tree and I loved your channel ever since. I am exited to try some of your ideas when the weather drops below 90° because I like to work in my garage but I also like to be able to breathe 😄 I'm loving your channel, keep it up, it awesome ❤️
👌🏽You did a fantastic job on that stool and bowl. I made a entry way table and blanket ladder inspired by them 😂 I ended up making two tables. The first one was a fail as far as I was concerned, and I made a second one which I will do a little bit more to it, I like that idea how you use the mud so I might add that to it as well. I show it here on my RU-vid channel. I did end up ordering a bowl from them and one day I want to get in the car and drive there which 97 miles away. I signed up for what they call the drop and when they notified me that’s when I made my purchase and they ship quick.
You are fantastic! Im glad you went with it and didnt try to perfect thing and edit things iut. It was oerfectly perfect this way!! You stand out among the mundane videos!
😂 why do I need an old stool? Yes I m the same way. I love it and then ask myself...what am I doing. ? But you like what you like. Just today I did some projects hopefully next weekend I'm doing some cement projects .
A friendly fyi...Jonni Good from The Ulitamate Paper Mache channel's "new air dry clay recipe" gives the best results and it is made with ingredients you have in your house. The clay is super strong and super smooth ...you can add layers of wet clay onto dry clay..If you ever decide to make any pottery or sculpture you should try Jonni Good's recipe it is worth it and makes a huge difference in the outcome.
Soak steel wool in vinegar. The longer; the better. It’s a natural stain that brings out the natural grain in wood. It’s so cool because it’s different on each type of wood. And again, the longer it soaks, the better or deeper it gets. Basically, it’s never the same. For the bowl, try antique wax For dark wood. You can find it in the paint section (usually) at your local Home Depot or Lowe’s. I’ve used it to age chandeliers aka light fixtures, outdoor mirrors, etc. I’ve used it on so many things and the can is still full! LOL Just ideas, yall. Not saying they’re better than the dirt. Don’t come at me. Definitely not saying I know best. Again, just ideas
Yes!!! I’m I’ve been looking for one at the thrift store for months and somehow haven’t had any luck. But that was my original plan, still might do it again if I find one ❤
