@@MannyOrtiz I work in the motion picture industry. Humble of you to think the budget for a JLo shoot is $50k lol. Budgets on campaigns like this are wayyy higher $400k at least if it’s stills only now if it’s a mix of video and stills we’re talking 7 figure budget

When it comes to the getting the detail from the eye, its actually a little trick. Besides using flashes which usually have weak modeling lights, you use bright continuous lights to shrink the pupil which makes the eyes look more brighter.

That’s frikin genius, because the pupil will stay super large with flash! But will adjust with continuous light!.. mind blown..

I'm just talking from my own experience Manny. I have also tried to get the most appropriate look in my photos based on the 'J'Adore' commercial shoot of 'Dior'. I myself worked with the MUA in charge of this production on this, so I can't get any closer to the experts. According to what I've learned then, in such a production a complete plan is built up from start to finish. In other words, the editors tell you what the make up should look like on the photo to be able to edit properly. A company that carries out a light study (yes there is) that indicates in a 3D drawing which lights should be where, how adjusted, which light source, and so on. Based on all the information, the photographer must indicate which material he will use in order to get exactly the result that is requested. Before, not during, because then there is no time for that anymore. I had asked my MUA to paint my model exactly the same as in the original shoot, because I was very curious. I can tell you that it doesn't even look like the result. For me this was not even make up, but an accumulation of colors on a face and was surprised that no gold was even used, while the end result in the advertisement has a 'golden look'. With that information, it became clear to me that we photographers who don't work in such productions can never come out with those results, no matter how hard we try. But I personally have no problem with that, certainly not. Because we photographers have our artistic freedom that we can show to the outside world. This makes us unique, this makes us free to make a choice how we show our work, which is worth much more to me (and I think also to you). Once again congratulations on your work and keep doing what you are doing, always looking forward to seeing new material from you. Happy New Year to you Diana and the rest of the family

I think you did a great job Manny. And I think It's really hard to replicate Professional Grade Editorial/Beauty work, simply because of the Editing aspect. It's up to the editors discretion on how they edit and it's a creative process that you can't really replicate because it's like an artist's work. It's like trying to replicate a painting, brush stroke by brush stroke, it can never be 100 percent. But you were truly like 90 percent there. Stay classy Manny.

I have worked on a lot of "glamour shoots" and the edits are higher than people expect. I think you did a great job and your wife carries it well and had the sense to know her own limitations, which you both do when looking at this. It is interesting to see you try and replicate a different style of shoot and how it is plausible to a degree.

Probably used Enhance Iris slider in Luminar without actually changing the color - In B&W it doesn't matter as much but I doubt they changed the color - they just enhanced - or if in LR they masked the iris and brought up the exposure - many ways to achieve this. Fun video! Thanks Manny :)

In the past for me, when art directors bring in previously created shots and say "they want it like this" its one of the most difficult things for a professional to do, and incredibly time consuming, much easier now with digital than film but still can be a long job and sorts the "the men from the boys"... I think there are lot of photographers here who would like to spend a day trying this kind of beauty shoot with Diana. Watch out J.lo... there's a new girl in town..
