High Falls of the Cheat River, Shavers Fork, West Virginia - An aerial view 

High Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Monongahela National Forest, and at an altitude of over 2,800ft, one of the highest. The Shavers Fork of the Cheat river passes over the 100-foot wide, 20-foot high shelf. There are two ways to reach the waterfall. The first by taking the High Falls trail that passes through old growth forest, and large hemlock as it winds through the saddle on Shavers Mountain. The other is by the Tygart Flyer seasonal train that leaves out of Elkins, West Virginia.
