Carlos Rodriguez and students of Rogers Street Academy demonstrate this game, where students walk around to music tagging and "rescuing" each other.
Note how the class was organized, and directions given so students knew to walk. Note how quickly students got back to seats and were ready for directions.
Grade Level: 3-5
Addresses Physical Education Standard 1: "Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities."
Requires: Music and a media player to play it, foam hands or some method to show who the taggers are.
This video is shared as part of the Active Schools Initiative, which provides strategies to teachers and students for motivating students to be physically active outside of their physical education classes. dpi.wi.gov/sspw/physicaled.html
Video produced in 2010-11 by Milwaukee Public Schools with support from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Thanks to Carlos Rodriguez, Rogers Street Academy, and the students!
