Very cool and versatile guitar but the frets look small. How big are the frets and how does it impact playability. Too bad Strats don’t use jumbo frets except for a few exceptions.
They're medium according to Ibanez's specs, but they take some getting used to after playing jumbo for a while. Still possible to shred despite the smaller frets.
Hey. Great playing out there. I am considering to buy one. I am confused whether to go for this or save almost 100-150 dollars by buying an Ibanez GRX40. Kindly suggest. Thanks. 🙏
Thank you. I recommend Ibanez AZES40. Easier to play and bend because of the 25” scale length compared to 25.5” of GRX40 and more tonal options. Hope that helps.
Hey man. Do you still recommend this guitar? I really like 80's metal (like Dokken) and blues (like Stevie Ray Vaughan) and wondering whether this guitar will fit my needs.
Sorry I can’t remember the exact model. I looked up the nuts on the Graphtech site and PT-5000-00 might be your best bet. What I do remember is the nut my local guitar tech installed was slightly longer than the required dimension. You can always sand it down if it’s too long. Hope that helps though and thanks for checking out the video.
I was thinking of getting a new guitar, would you recommend this one or one of the squier contemporary hh strats? I like playing 90s alternative rock if that helps
I recommend the Ibanez AZES40 because the humbucker and neck+bridge Tele-like tone can pull off convincing alt rock sounds while giving you the option to use traditional in-between Strat tones. If you don’t use those tones that much, the Contemporary HH Strat should be fine since the dual humbucker pickup config will give you thicker tones.
The various combinations of the neck and middle pick ups can achieve passable jazz tones with some tinkering of amp EQ and the tone knob. For a more traditional jazz tone, I recommend the Ibanez AG95 hollow body. Ibanez AS73 if you want to play jazz, but still want the flexibility to play blues, rock, and funk. Will try to upload a video showing some jazz tones from the Ibanez AZES so stay tuned for that.
To get a jazz sound on an Azes 40: 1. Pickup selector on neck pickup (with Dynamix switch off) Tone should be at number 5 or less. 2. On amplifier: Turn Mid to 2:00 or 3:00 and Bass to 2:00 or 3:00 and treble to 10:00 This will make your AZES or any strat have a jazz guitar like sound
