High hopes for the next generation. 

I remember when I was kid there were two grandma aged ladies in our neighborhood that we loved. One was my best friend's next door neighbor and the other one was mine. If either one was sitting on her porch all the kids would flock over there and talk to them. Consider it an honor because we thought very highly of these two lovely women. They were actually interested in what we had to say.

margaret, you look SO happy and SO relaxed recently. It does my heart good to see life finally not so difficult for you. And spending days playing with Squish seems like the most effective exercise program - you move so much quicker, you seem to now have the energy of youth, and your face practically glows with health and vitality!!!!!!

Hi Margaret. I just watched this again. I know I’m a week late but you mentioned struggling with what to feed Squish so I wanted to respond. My 20 month old Granddaughter loves most fruits such as, blueberries, bananas, raspberries, strawberries and kiwi. I cut them up in small bites for her. She also likes many vegetables, cherry tomatoes, avocados, cucumbers. She loves cheess and crackers. I also keep boiled eggs (no good for Squish) for her as well and most any type of pasta. I hope this helps. You are looking very well these days so keep doing what you’re doing! Hope to see a new video soon because your adventures are inspiring!❤

My grandkids like celery with peanut butter in the groove and raisins on top, called Ants on a Log. Most generally kids love hummus, with pita bread or just bout any vegy. Any kind of bell pepper, those little sweet peppers are good. Little oranges called cuties are always a hit. Any vegy dipped in ranch dressing. Apple or banana with peanut butter. Kids like cheese sticks. Just a few suggestions. Excited for you and new home adventure!!

Hi Margaret, Squish is way ahead of the game - that is so fantastic that she already has the concept of “sharing”. I am happy for you that you are getting to help raise your grand baby!!! BTW- I love the shade of your lipstick!! Also, you are so fortunate to have sisters! I had 2 brothers ( no sisters) and my favorite brother died about 12-13 years ago. I am not close ( at all) to the other brother. However, I am so lucky that I attend the BEST church in the world and am very active in it. They are like family. I taught elementary school in Florida for 33 years. Of those, 17 of the years I taught Kindergarten so they were playing together but, when I was a teacher on special assignment teaching Head Start teachers how to teach, I saw a whole lot of co-playing. It is one of the most interesting stages of early childhood to watch and enjoy. That was a stellar social skill for Squish to already be introducing other children to her own toys and offering to share them. You are doing a great job with her, Oma!

I used to love to take my grandson to the Library when he was little, they had so many programs for the little ones. He even won 4 tickets to the Polar Express Train Ride at Christmas one year. That was awesome. Sounds like you're the Oma of the block!

You're right, Margaret. Kids in abusive circumstances never can trust other adults. I could never trust anyone.. Shame made me keep quiet about the abuse; didn't want anyone to know I had a crazy mother who was terrorizing us all. I'm guessing that your neighborhood kids don't live with abuse, and so they trust adults. That's why Harper was so open and approached you so easily. You, abused kid that you were, think it would require courage to approach an adult, but if adults have always generally treated you well, they don't intimidate you. Also, it always seemed to me that adults were always yelling at us; teachers, nuns, neighbors. . It was always, "Line up! No talking! Eyes on the blackboard! Heads on the desk! Keep off the grass! Get away from my car! Hands off the merchandise!" You know what I mean? I never thought grown ups liked kids. My own mother didn't even like her own. 😄

I make boiled chicken tenderloins with bay leaf and a sweet potato or baked potato, avocado also stuff in the air fryer. A Protein and a carbohydrate some navy beans and rice

I get it that you don't want to cook supper for your kids, but maybe you could "suggest" some easy meals such as crockpot meals she can dump in the crockpot in the morning before work so that they are ready when she comes home. At least the meat in the crockpot. For the baby - maybe cooked broccoli for lunch with melted cheese on it. Hummus is a good plan. Also grilled cheese sandwiches. Pimento cheese sandwiches. I'm from the south - maybe you don't have that in New England?

Mini tacos big hit too. “Kodiak” pancake mix, different flavors, good protein. Doesn’t contain eggs or need them to make mix. But company does put disclaimer that machines used for other products that contain eggs. Just a thought.

There’s nothing like the presence of little ones!

Not chocolatey brown colour please. I remember the fad of Mission Brown and it was so depressing. Trying to convince the painters I did not want anything in Mission Brown aaahhhhh! I was pretty sure they just had an over supply of it. Young children: I live near a beach so on school holidays all the children riding their bikes with surfboard carriers and all their excitement just oozes happiness. I go to the beach and watch them and they will sit and chat. I am a listener and they tell me they have very little interaction with adults. Both parents work and only 2 of the clan have grandparents who are accessible to them. That’s just life these days. They are their own little tribe. Noah and friends welcome to our group.

Its great to be neigbourly with the local kids. We had several on our street that used to come out and play with us. Holding the skipping ropes right across the road so we could all "jump in" They played rounders in the field and kicked a ball around. They were always there to either give you a bandaid, or even clout you round the ear (We deserved it but that couldn't happen today!) or just chit-chat, they were like a band of Aunties. We also had two that were absolute DRAGONS! If you even paused outside their house they flew out and gave you a telling off. In return, we used to clear snow for the nice ladies in Winter or pop to the shops for them. Happy days on a happy street (mostly) I still live there and hope the local kids look on me as one of the Aunties... and NOT the Dragon lady.

Little children like to dip their finger foods. Also soon she will get good at using a spoon. Where I live navy blue is popular for shutters. I see one house with navy siding and stained wood shutters. Makes me think of Joanna Gaines’ style. Really nice. I also notice that select windows have shutters rather than every window with shutters. I like this too. My house is all one color with the shutters being a darker shade of that color. I haven’t tired of it. I pulled a color out of the stone. Whatever you pick will be nice. Who doesn’t love new and fresh!!! Enjoy. Something to look forward to. I agree they should find their way. You could go to the expense and time and then they decide on take out. I used to make good muffins, cookies, biscuits with the little ones to enjoy and share with parents. We made a lot of tea sandwiches and doll pancakes. Mini and kid friendly. Take care.

How about trying to cook a lot of chicken tenders or wings you can freeze these and take out as needed. You can add some carrots. Chicken salad in a hot dog roll and cut into small pieces.

IM SOO JEALOUS. I WAS ABLE TO SPEND A LOT OF PLAY DATES With MY GRANDKIDS WHILE THEIR MOMMYS WORKED. THE OLDEST IS GOING TO BE 30, THE YOUNGEST IS IN JR HIGH .7 ALL TOGETHER. IT WAS THE MOST FUN TIME OF MY LIFE ! I WISH IT DIDN'T GO SOO FAST. ENJOY
