I came here to say goodbye to the great Marko Hietala. I love his version of high hopes and I'll miss him on Nightwish. The best of luck for you Marko, the grass was greener and the light was brighter with you on the band.
He has left the door ajar. We may one day see a reunion if the issues raised are resolved. That does happen with bands (Bruce Dickenson and Dave Murray, Iron Maiden / Rob Halford, Judas Priest), although the case here is unusual as it's both medical and operational. I'll say fare the well, Marko, and all the hope I can give that things become better.
The man had some fucking awesome pipes. I still dont really understand why he would leave, he said industry reasons and being held back in his career... man you play in front of 80k people on a monday night your not being held back man :3 it sucks but he is fantastic, one of the greatest male vocalists EVER imo.
Marko is such an underrated vocalist, simply because he's a back up vocalist in a female fronted band with world class singers. But when he gets the stage, he delivers.
checkout the live version of The Islander at Tampere. Marco sings and Floor backs him up, lol. What a high, even for a pro, to have Floor be your back-up vocalist... even if it was just for a song.
@@TheFoeni007 he left the band as well as the public life. I can’t blame the guy. Truly gifted bass player and absolutely amazing vocalist. One of my favorite musicians of all time. I think he just reached that point and he said “I’m done”

As a fan of Floyd going back to the 60's, I tip my hat to Nightwish on an excellent cover and my deep appreciation of covering a song that speaks to our generation's reflections about the sacrifice of our dreams in order the live the nightmare of others. My hope for those coming behind us is to learn from our folly and not follow in our mistakes. My dreams for you is to be better than we were.
i don't tip my hat at all, i don't like this version at all, it loses all the emotional sensations that the floyd brings. The soul of the song is destroyed.
@@coco_bold Nightwish didn't do it that bad, but the end of the song in fact destroys the atmosphere of the Floyd original what is really sad. You know the Gruhak cover? They've done it better by far.
He is the former drummer Jukka replaced by Kai. Jukka suffered from insomnia and story tells he got migraine attack during this performance. Note first the nod from Tuomas at the keyboard and later Emppu at the guitar goes to check if everything is alright (jumps back to front stage) .
This is the way a cover should be treated... with so much respect, honor, soul and character. A lot of people could imitate something but use something great already created to create something great as well but different and with distinction it is just magic

that guitar solo is absolutely amazing that no words can describe, that guy put everything he has into that moment, truly amazing I wish it would be a little longer.
@@cbehen he indeed put everything in this solo! One of the best if not THE best guitar solos I ever heard in music history! Nightwish will forever be my favorite band!
I am 63...I have seen Pink Floyd in concert several times, seen them perform this song..... I have to say that this is my favorite version of this classic.... I am so heartbroken that Marko has chosen to leave this stellar band.... he will be impossible to replace....

Marko ist ein Weltstar, seine Stimme und sein Können am Bass ist unübertrefflich. Ich habe noch nie etwas Besseres gehört. Dieses Cover ist so dermaßen gut, es ist immer wieder ein Erlebnis. Marko und Yucca sind nicht zu toppen. Es ist sehr traurig, dass es diese Konstellation nicht mehr geben wird. 😢
i hate when People cover Pink Floyd ; this one is just awesome , its metal and psychadelic and does feel the melancholy like of the original High Hopes !
smae with a forrest from cure by aeon winds.. or lady in black by ensiferum or smalltownboy by paradise lost.. i think this only works with metal covers (or a genre that is diffrent tot the original) .. because it s something diffrent..
Same. There are some songs where if you touch them you better be different of better. NW really killed it in the good way. I love Marco's take on the vocals.

After reading the news, i'm absolutely heartbroken. I was too young back when Tarja left, and out of the loop when anette did too, but now that i'm back to adoring nightwish, as it was part of my childhood and it will forever have a special place in my heart, i can't help but believe this is the same way fans felt knowing about Tarja leaving. I remain convinced that mental health should always be a priority, and that's why i will love this band no matter what happens, taking into account that the people that are part of it are really talented guys and they kick ass just as much as they did back in the beginning. I don't have enough words to explain just how many feelings i am going through, and i can only hope that Marko's resignation doesn't mean Nightwish's decay. Damn, i got emotional, i really wish Marko the best, i and wish for him to feel better eventually, someday, somehow, because there are lots of people who love him, and we'll be waiting

Man, Marco is one Hell of a vocalist! Whether as a soloist or as the male vocal counterpart to the female singer on Nightwish , he never fails to deliver. The whole band is just an incredible collection of talent. It is shocking how few have ever heard of them.
I LOVE Pink Floyd and get very defensive about the multitudes of crappy covers out there and tributes that don't hold a candle. With that said, this is one of the best covers, of anything, ever, and this live performance is truly stunning. Does the original credit in style, nothing less than what I'd expect from Nightwish.
@@coco_bold Can't not agree more. Another example is Black Sabbath's Planet Caravan. Although many people say Pantera version is good, I still think it just destroys the soul of original song.
@@TheMrtop10 maybe hook up with Coco in a dark room with cobwebs. I have been into Pink Floyd since 1969 and don't think many days have gone by without spinning a track or two, I feel this is def not a blatant cover more a very skillfully crafted tribute full of soul that is obviously done out of respect for the song and love of it, I prefer to listen to this for that plus that reason and love this solo more btw. Other bands try hard to clone but with Pink Floyd it's pointless so for me this is refreshing twist and worthy addition to my playlist
Suffering total burnout is terrible! I pray he finds his passion in singing for us again, one day! A wonderful, deep soul...this man tells a story whenever he sings, without the need for fancy theatrics or crazy moves.💖

I cannot imagine how this felt seeing live and lucky the concert goers were. I would pay big money to see Marko, Tuomas, Jukka and Emppu perform this again

There's no doubt that Nightwish is one of the best band on earth. Simply most amazing cover ever anybody did i think. PinkFloyd must be proud of you guys 🤜🤛, we all are.
People are always confusing what musicians show in songs or on stage with their real skill.. Just because the style of a band isn't focused on high skill solos, that doesn't mean they aren't awesome players. Often quite the opposite, I would say.

The fact that they have managed to produce an even greater result to such a masterpiece shows that they are a band equal to those with which we the older ones grew up... By far the best band in the world since their appearance....
Ich höre dieses Meisterwerk täglich, das Beste was ich je gehört habe. Marco ist ein Meister. Es gibt keine bessere Stimme. Wahnsinn. Es ist wirklich ein Wunderwerk, so schön ist es. Aber auch alle anderen sind einfach unübertrefflich gut.
WHAT a cover! - One of the best ever..... Sorry to see Nightwish today 😞 Jukka was one of the absolute best drummers ever, but Kai Hahto is really great too 🙂 HOWEVER - Marko can not be replaced - they are not the same without him 😞 Hope that he will return.....
Pink Floyd transcends boundaries, religion, and really everything. The fact that Nightwish knows Pink Floyd and likes them enough to do a cover speaks for itself. This was amazing.
Marco Hietalala is Marco Hietala, he sings the song in his own way, and does not try to be David Gilmour. Cover is hell good, probably one of the best!
