As a 3.5e player that Is about to pick the authority feat: Look at what they Need to mimic a fraction of out Power Authority basically gives you a second character, plus many more npc that are friendly status and Will help the party when possible, obviously nothing that could cost their lives. They can sell and buy stuff at Better prices, make small items, prepare lvl 1 scrolls and potions, etc. Obviously they don't pass lvl 5, but you can give then any classes and feats, so basically anything low lvl becomes an option. And you get an extra 2nd character with It, he Will be 2 lvls down compared to the party, but Who cares, extra caster for spells and feats your Friends didn't pick. Anyway, at High lvl you get hundreds of those followers, thought recluting them Is long and the Number of followers depends on a score that has a bunch of modifiers that define how good of a Person you are, the benefits of having a small city economy are decent even at High lvls (rules as written, you can technically determine how much money, information and magic items of a certain rarity goes around in a Village/city/etc depending on the number of people). Basically, I Will become the economy. You know, because of how undeads work in 3.5e and because I'm a cleric, If I wasn't good aligned I could litterally also make an undead stronger than me at some point (if I find the right Bones and cast a spell to create an evil aligned area that helps raising the dead). Basically, the spell makes undead like 5e, but you Need Money and their hit dice depends on the creature you animate. You can con control 4 times your lvl in hit dice of undead, but you can create a single creature with only 2 times your hit dice at once. There Is a spell to double this, so 4 times your caster lvl in hit dices of creature at once. You can only make skeletons and zombies, but they can have more hit dices based on size. So something like the skeleton of a young adult Red dragon has around 21 hit dices, for a cr9, and you can create such a creature at lvl 7. In short, that thing Is gonna break game balance real Quick. And the spell doesn't permanently waste your spell slots by needing to be recasted every 24 hours. If I instead wanted as many undeads as possible, then at lvl 20 I could control 80 cr 1/2 zombies at base, then I could add in the other undead creation spells that make stringer types of undead, such as wights and ghouls. I believe some of those can have up to 12 undeads at a time, and I can make few of those. There are also mummies and other things with special "haha you died" effects, like negative lvls. And they do not require multiple uses of the spells. Having infinite creatures under your control seems so slow in 5e, being and evil 3.5e cleric seems much faster.

this is the only part of the 5e Trickery Cleric that I love. Modify Memories is such a cool spell. My party uses it a lot. our trickery cleric wants to change to echo knight though cuz they do her thing 10x better than she can. I'm like no way, no re-spec cuz MMem is SUCH a dope spell.

That is messed up. When I think of lobbying, I think of bribery. That is really corrupt and shady stuff. Maybe there is a bribery mechanic. The bard raises their charisma bonus by 1 for each 100 gold given to the politician. That makes it easier to make politicians into the bard's puppets.

Tbh at that level you could just create (or take over) a city on a whim. Turning a politician into a thrall just sounds like a bunch of extra steps. Especially when a great old one warlock can create thralls out of anyone they knock out.

@@galmenz6118 Logically, it is impossible to polymorph into a creature that you are not aware of. That is clear metagaming, especially outside of the Eberron setting.

@@blkgardner Don't be silly. Literally, your character just needs to say, "Make me a monster capable of enthralling the minds of others." and the magic of polymorph would do the rest. Honestly, it would be a sucky DM to require you to know the name of a creature to transform into one, "I'm sorry Jimmy, but I will not accept 'You know, that one monster with horns and thick skin. You're going to need to polymorph into something else.'"

Greater Restoration says: "end *one* of the following effects on the target" It doesn't clear all status effects with one casting.

The greater restoration will remove the curse but it will not cure them of being a thrall. Only a wish does that.

BUT, as a GM I now really want to write a campaign with a Bard BBEG who utilises this strategy.

I mean, as far as I can tell, it also is a plan that requires you to be at a high enough level where you would most likely be able to bribe the politician, or any other number of less complicated ways of controlling him. It also ignores that it's not how Mind Seed works, as far as I can tell. Mind Seed doesn't control them, it effectively copies yourself onto them, although they'll be eight levels lower than you. There'd also be no need to heal the intelligence, as they'd have the intelligence you had when you were 8 levels lower. At least, that's what I can tell from literally just a couple of moments looking the things up.

Incorrect. Only druids specify that you have to have seen a creature before you can transform into one. Arguably, you just need to say, "polymorph me into a monster with the ability to dominate people's minds" and the magic will do the rest.

i doubt a GM would make a king have the stats of a commoner. hell, its rare to even have a "regular" king and not a badass McAwesome warrior king/wizard

Geas only charms, it is not a perfect domination. Geas punishes the creature for acting against you, which does suggest that insubordination is at least POSSIBLE, if painful

It takes a week, and during that week your target cant communicate intelligibly, nor can it understand language. So you either need to kidnap it or its going to give the game away just by virtue of being...well, feeble

The question here is, does the target of choice have enough hit points? Because Feeblemind automatically deals 4d6 psychic damage regardless of a save, a commoner would most likely die instantly. Unless you protect the target from the damage or target something with enough hit points to survive, you might just kill the person you’re trying to control.

Yup, the exact reason why Quori don't use much mind seed. It's dangerous if you don't know if the mind seed's gonna be loyal!

Side note: Shapechange into a werewolf or some other shapeshifter creature, and then use Wish to Clone yourself while still in the Werewolf form, then die to make the shapeshifting traits permanent. Bonus points if you are already a Changeling! Then, become the Kalaraq Quori in the same manner and clone/unalive yourself again! Now you can use Mind Seed permanently without looking like a Sliver from MTG ^^ and you can just look like the politician at that point and take out the middle guy!

RAW, only Wish can remove the mind control. The real issue is that you can't stay a quori forever and my DM would rule that the seed would wear off once you turn back to normal.

Nope, stat block says only a wish spell can reverse it after the 6 days
