Showing the process of the high moisture corn on our dairy farm. From harvested in the field to coming out of the silo and fed to the cows. #farming #dairyfarm #cows #corn #grain #silo
Great Video Mike, High moisture corn is the same as a beer is to a man, at the end of the day it's nice to have at the end of the day, thanks for sharing
Great thing about farming is everyone who farms uses what they think is best. Color/type/age of equipment doesn't matter. If it works for you, then run it. Nobody is right, and nobody is wrong. Great video, Mike! And Happy New Year! May Milk prices go up!👍👍
Your way of high moisture corn is pretty much how we did it on our farm when my father was still farming. Dump into blower .shoot it in the Harvestore than augured into a electric roller mill right into feed cart. Always loved the smell of high moisture corn.
We farmed over in Deposit, not that far from you. We bought high moisture corn, put it up in a Harvestore, then ran it through a roller mill. Similar result, yours is a bit finer. Cows loved it! Happy New Year, good health and good luck!
Again another great video Mike. So many memories run through my mind as I see how you feed your cattle. I knew that kind of thing a long, long, time ag Decades ago. That's one of the things I always found interesting about farming. There's so many things you do. You're not sitting in a cubicle, or you're not workin on an assembly line. You're working with animals and equipment and people, and it all makes you happy... and that's good!!
Thank you and your family for sharing life on your farm, we all enjoy it. I like the cows and the tractors, a farm can never have to many tractors. Wishing you all a prosperous and healthy new year.
My dad had a feed room with a roller mill we had 2 harvestors and on stave silo. 50' harvestor for high moisture corn 80' harvestor for alfalfa and 60' stave silo for corn silage
MMMM. Did you get a new camera for Christmas? The quality seams to of upped its game from the previous high standard 👌.. Our corn mill was just called the Bruiser... sadly all our bagging and milling has stopped being used now as we no longer have our own cattle on the farm.. Times change I suppose and of course every farm is different and run differently so I have to agree with you I do like seeing how other farms do things all over the world. Stay safe 🏴
Very nice. Owned a Davis Krimper-Kraker for over a decade, so i appreciate your setup. Surprised not seeing more dust. Really miss those days, and that Davis unit.
Always learn something new from your videos. Really appreciate how humane you are with your animals. Reminds me of my grandfather and his treatment of his heard. They would follow him like sheep. However his youngest son (my uncle) took over farm. He was often mean and nasty to the dairy cows. You could tell by the way the cows reacted to him. They were very nervous and would try to head bunt or try to kick you. Once my grandfather signed over the farm, my uncle sold the cattle and drove a truck. The farm never was the same afterwards.
Excellent video Mike. Always wondered how you processed the high moisture corn for feed. I'm used to dry corn from grain bins in a hog operation. Had our own feedmill and had to grind a ton of feed per week. 500 lbs of hog supplement and the rest was corn or wheat. Surprising how much feed a couple hundred head of hogs will eat.
That's a nice hammer mill Our neighbor had one in the early seventies made chop with it was so slow it was like blowing dust lol On our beef farm we had a small roller mill in the barn Another great video thanks 👍
That would be the easiest way for putting up high moisture corn for your operation. Years ago it was common to pick it with a corn picker for HMC and process it at the silo with a feed grinder, a chopper set up to blow it in the silo, roller or hammer mill or a Gehl 800 recutter blower. A farm that I used to work for recently bought a self propelled chopper and put a corn head on it from a combine to do earlage as he is putting it in ag bags. He has a freestall operation that milks over 100 cows. Happy New Year!
Howdy Mike, I hope ya'll are doing well, If I miss your year end review, I wanta wish you and your Family a Fantastic New Year, and absolutely all the very best in the coming year, God Bless and Farm on my Friends, Peace
Never a wrong way just a different way but same result and this way works for you it amazes me how the combine get the grain off 😮 I wish you and the family happy New year and hope you have a great year Take care stay safe 🙏
Very similar ground feed. To what we had except we had the local feed mill come by with an elevator truck load up with oats an cob corn. Took it back to the mill ground it down a few hours later bull truck with an auger came an filled up our bin that was in the mow area next to the sliding doors.
It's kinda ironic that the end of year review is probably going to end up in the beginning of 2024. Happy New Year's to your family. May 2024 be very productive.
Good explanation Mike, hope everything is well, any big plans for the comming year?I wish you and youre family all the best for the new year ,stay safe you all greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
What you see in the video is how we feed the high moisture corn. Minerals and a biofix is put into the protein pellet from the feed mill which we feed after the high moisture corn
Do you all feed mineral separately in the barn. We ground corn and little barley in our grain ration added mineral and salt in grinder mixer and blew feed into metal tank with auger coming into barn to fill feed cart.

Have you had any issues with the pto in the 3010? They are readily available but seems like they had pto issues that required a split. Any suggestions?
I rebuilt our Automatic LA100 and mounted it on our grinder -mixer to roll roasted beans. It was a cheap solution for soybeans, but I used it for years.
