Ahhhhhh Goood Ole Salad Shrimp & rubber beads..LOL... Man that sure brings back some good memories for Me.. Had some epic steelhead days on that river way back when.. Member I was telling you about them Lure Jenson rubber beads & night crawlers! Kinda did the same thing back in 1997 when the river was like 18,000cfm but lower down river at the split pooring rain... Thanx man..
Yeah, many of us OG's would prefer not to see the tricks we worked our asses off for years to learn, blasted on YT... but I can't deny Austin and his crew know what they're doing and motr importantly are fishing right and handling the fish with respect. For that, a like is deserved...
Great video!! I live in Oregon but I lived in Rancho in the 90s I fished the entire river but spent most my time at river bend as I lived a few blocks away, I was hoping for some videos from that section, I caught a shitton of fish from that area and remembered when the river blew out we could catch em in the new channels…..
In in rancho now. I'm going to check out the steelies today I'm from SF but been to River bend in the 90's and it has more wildlife now but I think the runs were bigger then. I'm considering a move to I Oregon.
That salmon was way clean for this time of year. I always laugh when people say the water is too warm and it is going to kill all the salmon. Those things are smart and know to wait out in the ocean for the right time. Late run salmon which means there could be an epic long steelhead season.
Before dumbasses trying to “dominate nature” damned up our river over here we used to have salmon and steelhead almost year round. There used to be a spring summer fall and winter king salmon run. Steelhead used to be caught anywhere from late September to June. Kings used to average 20-50lbs regularly, now most kings are 5-25lbs and 30lbs is considered pretty big now. Hopefully they build a fish ladder or tear down the damn some day so the fish will have access to thousands of miles of natural spawning grounds.
@@alextchieng7621 if we create more ways to divert, store water, and make use of our natural flood planes we could do it. We could just build more reservoirs that would fill up when it rains and then dries out when it’s hot. It would also help our ground water replenish faster by letting the water wash through the fields like it naturally did before. it would also help the salmon population. There used to be baby salmon and steelhead in the flood planes eating all the bugs before they were blocked off. We could at least build a fish ladder and let them do their thing. 🤷🏻♂️
Met you today at Fishman's WH. Thanks for the conversation and tips. I'll check out the area and hit it up when Nimbus isn't releasing like crazy. It's still between 26k and 10k, depending on time of day.
Hey there guys I just found this channel. I think this video has great content! I liked and smashed that subscribe button! I didn’t want you guys to quit fishing though it was entertaining! I really liked the shoreline meal and grill! Keep it going guys maybe I’ll see you guys out there.
Hey Austin, glad to see you figured em out! I was the kid who kyle said was from the raft. Dana's are you kidding me had me dying during ur double up😂 Also, how deep did you have your bobber stop?
@@MikeTiptons_boots no way Mike! I thought I saw you at that spot when I was there today I just didn’t know if it was you or not. I’m just really glad the waters really clean
@@only_barbs_guy both of y’all are tripping if you think anyone believes that. been raining the last couple days and flows are 25000 cfs+ it is so blown out it’s not even funny
You’re lobbing a bait a few feet out to where the steelhead are holding. It’s like shooting fish in a barrel. Why do you do it??? So you can say what you caught? Get stupid hits on your channel? I’m sorry but this is not sport fishing.
Well of course they are. If you’re going to the river to catch steelhead and they are holding right in front of you then you’re not going to cast into the middle of the river😂 it’s common sense. Do you want him to go on the other side of the river and cast across it to where the steelhead are holding so he’s not “shooting fish in a barrel.” Would that make you happy sir? Or is it still too easy because they are casting where the steelhead are holding?
@@only_barbs_guy Not sure why people trying to make it hard on themselves. They're no where else but next to the shore. All fish do that during a blowout storm. I mean if you want to skunk and get snagged up, feel free to cast into the middle. Nothing there but logs and mud.
