Writer-Director Jayant Somalkar's debut feature film Sthal / A Match chronicles the experiences of Savita, a young woman yearning to determine her own future in a world of patriarchal traditions where an arranged marriage appears to be her only way out. High on Films Critic and programmer Virat Nehru chatted with Jayant about how the film is winning awards and audience appreciation from film festivals worldwide. The film won the NETPAC Award at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival for Best Asian Film. The film screens at the International Film Festival of Kerala, which runs from 8-15 December 2023.
