I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ru-vid.comUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

Love it and using all kinds of blades and line on them. One thing they should make a standard is biodegradable line anno 21st -plasticsoup century. Other then that a great durable product. Buy an extra set of batteries or a backpack for it though, it likes the juice. Batteries are quite the investment, but soon as you have them I think an advantage over buying expensive gas and getting the noise and fumes for free. I have this trimmer, a hedgetrimmer and an electric chainsaw. Love all 3.

I bought one of these about a year ago and I'm amazed at the power it has. I have been using a stihl brushcutter for about the last 15 years so the makita had big shoes to fill and does it very well. According to the specs the stihl is almost twice as powerful but you really can't tell for anything I do (general lifestyle block cleanup) The only complaint is the run time. Surprisingly it doesn't seem to matter what speed you are on you only get 20-25 minutes per pair of batteries. Luckily I have been on the makita platform for many years so have a heap of batteries but even so it is a bit of a pest having to wander back to my workshop so often . To sum up I really am very pleased with this tool and wouldn't swap back to petrol.

From actual tests I have seen 10-20 minutes seems to be the actual run time. I wonder what people are doing when they claim an hour or more? They must not be realizing the tool is running less time than they think during that one hour.

This is a great tool and has excellent battery life. I'm getting about an hour out of mine. As an older female I attest to the lightness and ease of use of it. So much easier than my older petrol brush cutter. Any chance of a video on changing from the line trimmer to steel blade as the manual that came with is not very helpful.

Really wanted to buy this model last week, but they incredibly difficult to source - settled for the DUR368L instead - we'll see how it goes once I set it up.

What’s the difference between 368 and 369? It’s hard to find that info.
@stultuses
@stultuses Год назад
@@roughnecktrekker1976 I've been searching that too What I can sort of piece together is the newer DUR369 has the motor at the end on top of the drive shaft, which some says might decrease power slightly and over time, the cogs mechanisms could wear out - but that was speculative talk I read The DUR368 I don't know, I have downloaded the parts list and tried to find schematics for but I have not found anything to give me the answer I want The way they advertise the run times makes it hard too, Hi = only 10 mins for the DUR369 but the DUR368 shows 38 mins on Hi but at a slower rotational speed They certainly don't make it easy to determine the exact difference between models 😞

From what I have seen, the 369 has a 1000W motor in the body (so there are losses due to the drive shaft), and the 368 is a 600W motor located in the head )so direct drive and minimal losses). In line with the lower max output of the motor and the direct drive nature, the 30+ minutes of run time seems reasonable. You just helped me to make a decision on which model to get. @@stultuses

Are these more powerful than that 36V model that has the motor on the bottom, near the cutting head? Which one is more commercial grade?

What's the difference between xru17 and xru18 please? They don't mention motor power any more one any them. That's not good at all. Do you guys know which one is the most powerful out of the XRU and DRU series? Thanks

So just confirming the trimmer spins the head anti clockwise like a petrol station? It looks it on the footage of it cutting those weeds but the reverse footage wasn’t very clear which direction was reverse

@MakitaAustralia 3 года назад
Hi Greg, you are correct trimmer spins counterclockwise the same as traditional petrol brushcutters.

Why is the motor in the body? It’s in the head in the DUR368.
@MakitaAustralia
@MakitaAustralia 3 года назад
Hi Tom, as the DUR369 series features twice the power output of the DUR368 (1.0kW vs. 0.55kW) the motor is larger. The increase in motor size effected the tool balance and therefore was moved to the back.

This is twice the power of the 368 with a 1000W motor, and it has a drive shaft as it is in the body. Everything I've read/seen suggests 10-15 minutes with the 369. @@exxr

I'm not sure how Makita reps are getting away with it. Very lax laws in Australia it seems! One official Makita video claimed 90 minute run time. WTF!
