Howdy Jake. Presuming this vid was made before Jade’s rear-end issue; it’s soooo much cooler to see you happy, living the adventure. Somehow, and I mean this in a good way, being down doesn’t suit you... BTW, nice touch giving Annie a raw egg! Dogs do love their raw eggs. :D
Very cool of Cole to offer his tools, his garage, his help AND food, boy you scored! Hope you have lots of great Wranglers to help you along the way and get rid of that squeal!
Thanks Jake for sharing, I think that If Cole has opened the doors of his home to you, is because you have shown us that you're a genuine guy, with a big heart, and a lot of dream ahead to achieve. Thanks Brand for the headlights and the non spillable battery for Jade, Wish you the Best! Thanks Cole & Family, for helping Jake - a lot off blessings, and my Best Wishes! I have a son, and when I think of all the struggles that are affecting Jake and all the things that could affect Jake's Journey/Adventure, makes me a little bit nervious, but then happy and relieved that he found your help - I was kind of worried, because Jake had just started his journey - Not a task for a fainted heart! - Jake, loved the video! When Cole and his family received you in their home; the homemade warm meal; Annie eating with appetite again (Maybe was the raw egg?); Jade with his new alternator, and non spillable new battery (I'm going to end repairing my own car, If I keep watching your videos (I'm learning a lot!). Well, maybe nor repairing it, but at least I can manage, checking the motor oil, the coolant, - simple thinks - It's been a pretty Good day! I wish that you keep finding good people in your path... really really good people! Happy Thanksgiving Day to all and to all a good ... Meal!
How cool is that?! Some random dude let you use his garage! I betcha you are going to have garages you can use everywhere you go. That's the way to do a 50 state road trip!
just so you know that black bushing on the top of the alternator where the bolt goes though will take up that extra space at the top when you bolt it down
hey Jake good to see you doing some upgrades to jade I really do recommend to upgrade your battery cables them stock ones won't hold up to the new alternator good luck with the trip ....
So you got the new alternator in and the new battery and the heater fixed.. then the rear end blew up.. that sucks man! Good luck getting it back together.
My jeep was squealing as well.. It was the power steering pump.. It was squeaking but finally blew power steering fluid out.. I replaced it and squeak was gone..
that squeal may be the idler pulley. I had a similar squeal on my 4.0 and then one day in traffic the pulley seized and fell off. it's only 20 bucks a few minutes to replace for peace of mind.
Jacob Baker He replaced that already, not to say it could be defective though. This was mentioned in his prior to leaving/prep video. He's also replaced the belt twice since then, also mentioned in that same vid
hey Jake my name is Cole too!!!! i am a patreon idk if you remember but you messed up my name cause you and Ben were talking and messed it up then you corrected it the next vlog, but when you come to Florida you come to Jacksonville me and my dad have a 2013 lifted jeep wrangler
Hi Jake Jade n Annie! Big thank you and hello to Cole and family. And Brad :) And Mark Twain for cool stuff to quote!! Love ya Jake Jade n Annie bananie!
Cole Collard ...you're welcome and thank you again. Congratulations to you..mom..and family on your new lil babies! Have a super Happy Thanksgiving! :-D
Jake, what do you do with Jade when you have to fly back for drills? I’m coming close to heading out for my own 50 state trip but I’m a merchant marine and currently on 4 week on/2 week off work schedule. I’m wondering what I’m going to do with my rig when I have to be back in ship?
what does it have to do with the water pump? The water pump can be shot and no squeals would be heard. Is has to do with Pulley tension and alignment, thats it. They changed the alternator for a bigger one and it isnt perfectly aligned as the original, probably required a different pulley as well.
You've never heard of a water pump squealing before it fails? It happens. I've never had a squealing serpentine belt. Only V belts.. Time will tell. :)
no, had waterpump fail without any sounds. Just temperature rising. Dont know what's a v-belt, im in Argentina so spanish is what I use for mechanics, but alternator belts for example, they tend to squeal a lot when they get old, specially the wide ones
For sure it's not the only sign or the only way to have a bad pump. You do have 'weap' hole that should warn you as well. V-Belt is what they use on older cars, like my old jeep. It's a smaller belt and if you cut it and looked at it, it would look like V. They tend to slip more and make noise. Whereas serpentine belts are much wider. Like 3X as wide, most are grooved and have much much better grip. I think I have three V belts doing what his 1 serpentine belt does. lol I'm sure, I'm wrong, it was just a warning. :)
PotasioCasillas Being a mechanic myself, I conquer with Legion2. Bearings can start going bad in the pump which would make it squeal. Bearing noise can be intermittent due to heat, drying up, or slight alignment issues adding a load. Hopefully the water pump isn't the case. Maybe Jake can decide depending on ownership of vehicle. Was it ever done in his possession? How many miles? If done while Jake has owned it, was it a reputable brand? How does coolant look? Many cases rusted or broken down coolant contributes to premature failure, but that's debatable. @Legion2 You aren't "that guy" if your just throwing out ideas. Good to ask questions, it helps to come up with ideas on possible weak points... Who wants to break down mid trip? lol At least you're helping him be prepared for upcoming possibilities. Great input!
Walk into a baby factory at 2:57. This entire install is with the wrong parts. First off, 20 years ago when Optimas came out, they were good. Today they suck. You will see in six months when you are replacing it. Next an improper battery type. I didn't see a trolling motor anywhere on that Jeep. Next are those emergency use only, shit, battery terminals. Do I need to elaborate on those? Next is that shit air filter. Passes a ton of dirt into the motor. Get rid of it, especially on an off road vehicle. Hello...... Next up are those poor grounds. Your Jeep cranks extremely slow. Next are all those cables jumped together at the battery. Get some power distro blocks or copper buss bars. All those friction connections will fail. Again especially on an off road vehicle that bounces around. You will get left stranded on the trail.
