In this video I am reviewing the Synthesis Roma 510 AC tube integrated amplifier which is a 80 watt per channel HiFi tube or valve integrated amplifier into 6 ohms, designed with simplicity in mind. I liked it for its simplicity and for its warm bold and very pleasing musical delivery across all music styles.

I hope you enjoyed the video, a couple of things to point out, my comparison to the Galion TS120SE was after about 40-50 hours of run in time with it, not really enough so I kept the comparison simple as the Galion sound might change some so do bear that in mind. The second thing is I quoted the tube price for a pair not a quad set do bear that in mind. Thanks

You just described the sound of every Synthesis that I know and heard personally , knowing the brand for years now . Really a good solid brand of tube amps. When and if can one day try to ear a old Synthesis model …is called the shine . This little amplifier ( midi shapped) , is a little jewel , being the key word ..balanced

Iw got my eyes on the Wilsenton R8, but after testing out the Arcam SA20, the SA30 with Dirac and for the price a very decent DAC and phono-pre will be my next one. I simply didn't know that a solid state could sound so tube like, before testing out the SA20,, 😋🥰. Excellent review Terry ⭐. Cheers and thanks,, 🍻😎👍‍‍👍‍‍

Ive got a PrimaLuna Evo 100, was desperate for a good entry level tube amp but put pff by having to use a step up transforner for Chi-fi prodicts as well as worried about tube life. I love valves, theres something so magical about the sound (if thats what youre looking for). This looks like a very impressive product for the price point, would be interested in hearing it.

Quite tube friendly, but not for 8 watts some tube amps can deliver a GOOD 25watts+ and then your ok to a point. Its not the same sound as 200w solid state but that is then whole point :)

I think this would suit a system where the speakers are brighter in presentation this would help balance out the sound I agree an auto bias or user bias feature would take it to the next level great review and well done sharing with us another brand different to the mainstream!

Not just speakers, systems in rooms can sound brighter due to the rooms acoustics and other factors

After Classe (fatiguing)…. McIntosh (blunt) I switched to Synthesis to drive my SF’s. Just my ‘music match’ made in heaven. Thanks for great reviews.

With good tube amps, even by just changing the input tubes (12AX7/ECC83) here can make a dramatic difference.. EG, stock tubes vs NOS Philips Miniwatt ECC83..

I own a tube amplifier that uses two 572B triodes in parallel with an anode HT supply of 2.4KV at half an amp. The amplifier will deliver over 500 Watts continuously with very low harmonic and intermodulation distortion.

I think that amplifier would really open up with a true 3 dimensional sound stage using cross-talk cancellation.

Welcome to the channel, this is a very complex answer - I might also change this slightly soon. I have two power cables from a wall socket - the socket is a Furutech and the power cables I had made from the DIY furutech cable SP-032N power cable. One feeds the Titan the other the Nova. The Titan powers whatever amplifiers I am using (that would be the M23 when I am using it) with a Tellurium Q Silver Diamond power cable. I would rather use my Statement power cable but its a bit too stiff for my setup at the moment. The Nova powers everything else using Tellurium Q Silver, Ultra Silver power cables mostly. I have 2 DIY power cables for the subwoofers. The Bespoke Pre does not need power so that is an easy The TT2 I use the included power supply. The M Scaler is powered from the 12 volt output of the JCAT Optimo A ATX LInear Power supply. This is quite an extreme setup of course, its kind of a perk of the job but it also helps me do my job better too

What's the story with the Bias button?? Sounds like it has auto bias?

The Galion has auto bias yes, there are no buttons on the Synthesis juts input selection

@@PursuitPerfectSystem NO the Gallion has autobias..........there's a lot of confusion about biasing tubes ........ This amp is probably autobias .........so you might change the autput tubes ( best results with matched pairs..... in any amp ! )

@@PursuitPerfectSystem Auto bias is with cathode resistor.......fixed bias is negative ( or + with class 2 amplifiers ) voltage on the grid., ..then there's fixred bias with servo /electronic control ( kind of automated fixed bias ) The Gallion has NOT AUTO-BIAS but has an electronic circuit stabilizing the fixed bias voltages to a set current!!! for it to change into Class A the bias current has to change but ALSO the high voltage has to lower .There's lot of confusion about biasing , I understand whe one has not enough knowledge about tube technology... the Gallion will work well as long as the circuit lives !!!and it will not be thirty years . Why did they call it "valve" or "tube" amps....and not "bulb" amps?

This would be auto bias, you change tubes and turn the amp on in a standby mode while it warms up. One of the inputs you must stay switched too while this takes place and then the system will switch from standby and be ready for you to move to your preferred input. Many amps are auto bias and do not mention it in the manuals.

No bias instructions is bad… I have to open up my AR Vsi60 and I wear leather mechanical gloves to adjust bias, but there are instructions… probably if you insist you can get safe instructions to bias. Also wonder if the current delivery with KT88 not 6550 contributes to the tubeyness and bloominess. People report less control more bloom even for the supposedly very solid statey Octave with Kt88. Maybe, this is just a symptom of the current geopoliticalky caused shortage of Kt6550, 120, 150… afaik octave, rogue, and some others default to kt88 where they can due to supply issues…

Wow, no bais. Wtf😮, either you auto bais or give instructions of what the specifications are . A real turn off. Try a few VTL amps or Manley Amps. 6550 tubes rock
