How about mesquite stock? Its hard wood tree and only grows in south texas
@es2056
@es2056 Год назад
Mesquite is a great wood for gunstocks, but it does have problems. First of all, the wood contains a lot of silica within the cellulose since it grows in a very arid climate in areas where the soil is sandy. The silica wreaks havoc with cutting tools. When I made gunstocks out of this wood I would have to resharpen all my hand tools and replace the blade of my band saw. Sometimes I had to replace a few of my rasps and files too. Secondly, it is quite a bit heavier that juglans regia or more commonly known as European walnut such as the ones in this video. It can also be a little brittle when working the wood, European walnut has a superior cutting and shaping characteristic, unlike any other wood I ever worked with. Finally, while mesquite is desirable it is hard to find trees large enough to get pieces big enough and suitable for gunstock making.

@@usnchief1339 You are right. As Turks the worse thing is we forgot producing things. In Europe and NA, There are trees specifically planted for these reasons. In Turkey on the other hand, There is a wild rampaging, plundering, looting and destroying culture. Just like how corrupt Turkish politicians are looting and plundering money and holding of our country, corrupt companies are collaborating with the corrupt government and doing the same for our nature. Every summer a forest fire definitely caused by climate change (sarcasm) happens and mysteriously new Hotels, Coal Mines and Wood Companies come to region. Guys like the one who responded to you thinks nothing will ever end. In order for Turks to understand that nature is important, we need to become country like Iceland. Where There are no trees left. Our people are just understanding the importance of Diplomacy, Anti-Corruption, Good Politicians, Freedom of Speech, Secularism... with the current economic crisis (%160 inflation). I hope I could informed you better. We are a nation who understands importance of things When they are gone. We don’t have an understanding and culture of conservation.
