Meh. Tom used the ensnare because of the outfails with the stun. It was a smart play but they kind of killed it before the effect really came in to play. It fell over easily to Elora's spell as well. Once the stun was in though those other effects were just going to happen. But I have no pity for an invading giant who wouldn't have any problem with killing innocents or destroying homes.

Juitou's character is driven by anger and vengeance, she doesn't have a single happy memory up until possibly when she met the High Rollers crew. That's a broken emotional character who would normally have a hard time ever having a proper relationship with another person.

@@tumbleweed1551 No, that's terrible odds. The defenders can't afford to lose that much. They're left stretched thin and exposed. While the attackers can just bring in fresh troops and attack with the same intensity as before, because they couldn't bring full force to bare on the size of the location anyway. That's how active sieges work. Lets say the wall is large enough for 100 people to stand and fight next to each other (tiny I know, I'm trying to keep it simple). Typically a defending force will have not many more soldiers that at full capacity. At best they might have 3 times that number, so they can switch out in shifts and replace the injured/dead. So lets high ball it at 300 soldiers. 50% means they're left with 150, still enough to cover the wall but not enough to cover shifts or replace many casualties. An attacking force however is expected to have at least 4 times the number of defenders, closer to 10 times if they expect to have a real chance of winning, but it's doable with 4 times (certain exceptional sieges have been done with less, but that's rare and usually due to a major flaw or betrayal in the defence). So lets lowball them at 1200. But only 100 can fight at a time, with the rest acting as rounds of replacements for casualties backing them up. If they lose 50% they still have 600, meaning they can still attack with a full force of rested troops with more left to back them up and switch out casualties. In short; The defenders have already lost at that point. They have almost zero chance of winning. Another round of 50% losses on both sides will leave the attackers with 300 rested troops, plenty to cover the full wall, while the defenders will have only 75 exhausted troops. They won't even be able to defend the whole wall anymore, and the defence they do put up will be greatly reduced in effectiveness. Remember I said the attackers should have closer to 10 times the defenders numbers? That's because the general consensus in siege warfare is that 1 defender on a wall is worth 10 attackers as long as the wall stands. The defenders cannot win a battle of attrition unless their casualty ratio is far superior to the attackers. 10% defender casualties vs 50% attacker casualties? That would be good. 50% vs 50%? That's an immediate loss. The defenders *have* to do better. *Much* better.

The Broken Sky was just recklessly throwing themselves at the walls and they had giants so it’s not a typical siege.

@@Human-gu2cx You're right, it wasn't a typical siege. In a typical siege there is rarely much actual combat, just weeks or months of waiting for one side or the other to weaken from lack of resources. What this was was an assault. But for most people these days, they don't understand that. The distinction between the two isn't something most people understand, and so they lump both things in under the bracket of "siege". Hence I referred to it as a siege, and didn't bother wasting my time making the distinction. However for yourself, and anyone else who knows and understands the distinction, all you have to do is replace "siege" with "assault". As for the effect of giants, well really they have no more (or less) effect then the normal siege equipment (catapults, trebuchet's, towers, etc) that an assaulting force would require. They can be therefore be dismissed or balanced out in calculations.

It's kind of their own fault though. They've had the opportunity throughout the campaign to kill each of these threats separately but chose not to out of fear, or let them escape because of questionable judgement. They could have taken out those fire giants and the roc separately and isolated, but didn't. They even had the dragon bargaining for its life and yet let it escape. They have spare the dying, revivify, and even resurrection spells so why were they so afraid of the dragon killing Reynard? They should have taken out that dragon then and there before it could react and move at all. And I still don't understand why mark had that blue dragon keep its word and let Reynard live, when chromatics are evil and vein creatures that regard other creature as inferior and should feel no reason at all to keep its word, other than mark is a gracious DM and didn't want a popular character to die so close to the end of the campaign. I would have had that dragon skewer Reynard as soon as it was out of range safe. Plus Reynard was conscious at the time due to his nat 20 death save, and could have tried to sneak attack that dragon and killed it as it dropped him and started heading away, but again didn't... And now they have to face all of the monsters at once. I love this motley bunch, and love watching them. But their tactical judgement is questionable at best... :D

That's the second time I've heard people saying they're letting unfought/killed enemies to bite them in the ass. There wasn't really a situation where fighting Gregor, or the Roc for that matter, really presented itself. I don't like that it is being presented as a pattern when it really only ever applied to the dragon.

@@MorinehtarTheBlueI know this is an old comment but thought I’d reply anyway. The broken sky only started evacuating the Veldaban operation when the party arrived and then ran. Had Jiutou and Elora backed Reynard up at the tavern they may not have been forced to run and waste a day back at the city and instead more effectively handle the Veldeban situation in such a way that saw the roc or Gregor dead alongside Tanya. If they had an extra day or more back then they probably could’ve killed Gregor at least in not dealt with the roc too.

@@justafox5356 I was more referring to the fact that a single boondoggle does not a pattern make. A little more hazy with the details because of the time difference so I'm not quite adequately able to present my full reasoning in rebuttal. Though I think I was talking about how neither of these creatures actually took the field. An alternative is certainly possible but it's all a tad too speculative to blame them for something that they may or may not have been able to do.

Yeah, I don't think that Guan Yin (Mark) brought it up for no reason/for it to be removed and I doubt it's not particularly strong in combat as it's a special late-game thing.

It's not like spin down dice have a different chance at rolling certain numbers, so it really shouldn't matter if they are used for DnD.

True - I guess it's just a perception kind of thing. I mean it makes it more exciting if the dice teeters on a 2 and then you get a 19 instead, but it's still just a game of chance (Thank you RNGeesus) I should bring it up with my DM. Those dice feel really good in my hands though - best set I've purchased for sure! Can't wait until the Season 2 dice set!

The only argument that seems to crop up is that they are far more open to manipulation. But a dice cup or dice tower will likely take care of that. I've heard that people have tested the reliability of the randomness with the conclusion that there isn't a difference. Still with spin downs technically being meant for use as counters it makes me wonder about quality assurance. Shouldn't actual d20s be tested for balance where as something not intended to be rolled need not be tested in the same way? It just makes me suspicious about the dice market because of that.

Yeah usually one or two questions I can understand, but the consistent every time anyone did anything "ADVANTAGE?" was not amusing, it just ground things to more of a crawl and I'm impressed didn't make Mark snap at her. Mark's tolerance is, as always, impressive.

But if he gives away the abilities, which defined somebody as a light born, can he still really be defined as a light born?

vergil tasev Lightborn is a race, not just people with specific abilities. Meaning he just stll a Lightborn just without any of the abilities. Similar to the Aasimar (or however they're spelt).

There is a little trick with larger models that makes base size unimportant. You move measuring the distance either back to back or front to front. As long as the edge you use is consistent it's the same as regular size minis.

The armour is a good point, but if an Incapacitated creature is hit within a melee attack within 5ft, it is automatically a critical hit. Check the conditions.

Also wasnt the Giant using a reach weapon so wasnt within 5ft?
