I graduated in 1974. We simply absolutely didn't understand how good we had it in school. I would go back in a heartbeat. We did our absolute best because we knew the way the world was, with Vietnam, we could have been drafted in a heartbeat. RIP to those classmates over the years that did get drafted and took the golden BB...
Nah, I was in high school in the 70’s. It was not the best time to be in high school. Teaching was mostly teacher centered. We listened to lectures and took notes then pop quizzes. It was dull and depressing with cliques of jocks, nerds, popular kids, and freaks. Bussing was a new social experiment which meant half the students rode for miles to the other side of the city to attend school. If you were white and wealthy your parents moved to a white suburb so you could attend a “good school” like the one pictured in the video. It was really closed minded to live during the 70’s. If you overthought it, you wanted to just jump off the planet!
I graduated high school in 79 pre cell phones! It was amazing! We played with friends all day every day! Life was simple and amazing! Everyone was nice to each other!

This brings back so many great memories!! I was in 10th grade in 1970. It was a great time to grow up. No internet or cell phones. No school shootings, very few fights, they were ended quickly by the teachers/administrators. We all actually talked, spent time with each other and developed friendships.
grad in '70--we took the california high school state champ in football,we went undefeated-we played the championship game in the coliseum in LA--off those two teams 6 guys ended up pro, many well known college players--we were heros --it was a fun time
Reminds me of Harrison High School. I graduated from City College (Baltimore) in '67 but I knew a girl who graduated from Harrison in 1970. I met some of her classmates, saw what they wore and how they interacted, and this film reflects some of that. I'd guess that some of these kids are grandparents today, looking back with a sentimental tear in their eye through the lens of their personal computers, a technology was a decade down the road.
I was 2. This put a lump in my throat... I emerged into this world in the best time. We are the last generation to know what life was like before the internet. Before things went digital. We are gen x
my best friend back then still my best friend a kind of friend that will keep you out of trouble in stead of getting you in trouble like a older brother
I was born in 1964 and graduated from high school in 1982. I literally grew up in the 70's. It will always be my absolute favorite decade. And the music was phenomenal! ✌💀👍🇺🇸
Before only family members or close to people can only see this but now the internet is here all these footages are being share to everyone who can observe what life was like decades ago. Such a different time from our parents and grandparents generations.
Any student in high school today needs to look at videos like this. You could look just as classy and clean-cut need not conform to any ridiculous fads. Your natural hair color is just fine, and you DON'T need ridiculous tattoos or facial piercings.
@@FischerFan I meant Teens you described don’t like anything like you described I rarely see any piercings and no tattoos atleast teens In the american Gulf coast
the Lovin' Spoonful "Younger Generation" 1967 John Sebastian Why must every generation think their folks are square? And no matter where their heads are they know Mom's aint there Cause I swore when I was small that I'd remember when I knew what's wrong with them that I was smaller than Determined to remember all the cardinal rules Like sun showers are legal grounds for cutting school I know I have forgotten maybe one or two And I hope that I recall them all before the baby's due And I know he'll have a question or two Like "Hey pop can I go ride my Zoom? It goes two hundred miles per hour suspended on balloons And can I put a droplet of this new stuff on my tongue And imagine frothing dragons while you sit and wreck your lungs?" And I must be permissive, understanding of the younger generation And then I'll know that all I've learned my kid assumes And all my deepest worries must be his cartoons And still I'll try to tell him all the things I've done Relating to what he can do when he becomes a man And still he'll stick his fingers in the fan And "Hey pop, my girlfriend's only 3 She's got her own videophone and she's a taking LSD And now that we're best friends she wants to give a bit to me And what's the matter Daddy, how come you're turning green Can it be that you can't live up to your dreams?"
I was only 2 in 1970, but I remember the early 70s very well, I had distinct memories from 3 yrs and on. My heart aches for a simpler, sweeter time like this, when all my loved ones were alive and everything made sense. Every interaction is literally painful these days, due to the crass and self centered attitudes. I wish I could go back.
Man teenagers back in day had such a fun innocent time. I wish I could back then to experience what they experience. Man, the teenage boy and the girl going to prom looking so happy 😊 . Man, we lost the innocence in our society.
I graduated in '69. Not exactly innocent. I cut out of prom and times were wild beyond what you might imagine. Complicated days with drugs, war, protests, sexual revolution for sure. Best music ever. We were very lucky. And it was fun!
I grew up in Denver in the 70's but I was much different than anyone else. I attended a Catholic boarding school for 2 years which was a big party. Then I went to a public school from Junior to Senior year. I used to hang with my aunt and uncles who were bikers and I knew and partied with many bikers. I announced to these bikers that I was leaving the Catholic scene and they threw me a party. It was cool, I was given a Sportster Harley...first day of school, 8 bikers on their hogs escorted me into the school parking lot. Freaking cool as hell. I got off my bike, walked across the parking lot full of students and no one said jack shit. I had long hair back them and I drove the chicks wild..I bred like an old bull for 2 years, I preferred the chubbie chicks and I gave many a ride on me bike..High School, so many people were so fearful and I made friends with the nerds and fought the bulliess for their sake....43 years later, I still have some of them same nerdy friends! My fellow students were great but a trip with their hang ups.
We had good times back then but much of it was clouded by the Vietnam war which we all hated. It was really tough to have classmates come back home in pine boxes, in fact it was very demoralizing.
High-school was a hard time for me I was about a foot shorter then the girls About 40 pounds overweight with crooked yellow teeth and a bad problem with gas, the ugliest girl in school wouldn't give me the time of day so predictably I played with myself a lot and over time went blind.
thats tough--i was a 6'3" blonde 210 lb football star--could have any girl i wanted but played it cool--life was good back there in Socal with all the beach babes, was into sports and cars--we really had a good time--sorry you didn't--1970 hi school grad
The girls were so pretty back then. No tattoos, no metal on their faces, no green hair. This may be a small point, but I miss how girls used to carry their books. Girls today seem not nearly as feminine. Class of '74 and I'm nostalgic as hell !
I'm 1974 from Bad Axe Michigan. There is a documentary Bad Axe to be shown November 18th 2022 in some American theaters. President Nixon visited Bad Axe while campaigning in April of 74.
I couldn't disagree more ! As a child from the 80's I miss the big hair and overdone make up with revealing clothes . I see women today and it appears they don't care about their appearance . And go back to the sixties when all young women where taught to wear high heels and be fashion savvy .
I graduated 1970 rayen high miss how all of the students nomatter color creed religion got along . People seemed more careing connected lest judge mental
Que tiempos inocentes e ingenuos de esos chicos ni sé imaginaban lo que se preparaba , los de hoy son más ignorantes y más manipulables y mucho más vulnerables según quiere esa agenda destructiva…
@@tommystxDefinitely. Add to that that many staple foods-e.g. meat, vegetables-were more nutrient -dense back then. Also, our parents knew about the importance of not snacking between meals so as not to raise blood sugar.
Most high schools also had a dress code back then. No hair length below the collar for boys. Girls had to wear dresses with no dress length above the knees. No pants for girls. Most hippies were already graduated at that time in my city.
I had a LOT of beautiful girl friends. I used to piss off the jocks. One time, I got this really mean jock mad at me because I stole his girlfriend, and to put icing on the cake, she was told to choose who will take her to the high school prom. She chose me! LOL. it was funny because I was a high school drop out, but she chose to go with me! The jocks hated me. At first they'd try to jump on me when I went to the schools to talk to chicks, but I started bring a friend of mine with me. Luis! He was 7' 2" tall. Luis was cool with me because I hooked him up with his girlfriend at a party, and he said he owed me a favor for that. I said, okay! You keep those damn sissy ass jocks off my back so that I can talk to the girls. He did! It was funny.
@@guitarttimman I'm doing great, made it through high school, got a job, got married, high school sweetheart, guess I was lucky you didn't snatch her away from me, had a bunch of kids, got a bunch of grandkids, became a foster home about ten years ago, kids all over the place, God I love kids, raised properly, every kid is a good kid. Yeah, we've had our problems also, incredibly my wife has seemed to have won her years long battle with stage 4 cancer, financially devastated, but we're all still here, kids and all, I've had to go back to work, but I wouldn't change a thing, I guess I'm so lucky some burnout like you didn't come along and take it all away before I really knew what I even had, good luck man.
My dad is born 1969 this video was there when my dad was a baby, my dad live without cell phones , tablet and computer, i don't like 1970s cause of no phones , no tablet and no computer , that make can't live, i start can live in 2015
Dude they didn’t have those things cus they weren’t invented yet I’m sure there r things that still haven’t been invented that we will see when we r old that seem insane
