The reason this song sends the message it does, is to show how intolerant the high school was. High School Musical was meant to teach kids that they could be whatever they wanted, even if that meant an athlete AND a theatre "geek". This one song was supposed to be the "before" picture and then the finale was the "after".

My hot take is that this song is genuinely quality music. It has a huge influence of 60’s funk and soul, and the production is pretty damn great too. The bass line is sweet and that organ just screams “Take me to church!!”

I love this song because it's true. High school students are always a part of some zombie click that wants them to be a certain way. this song portrays peer pressure load and clear, and here it's about conforming with how things go at that school. In fact, students only know half of each other. Plus it's catchy

I do like all 3 parts of High School Musical and I like to watch High School Musical often and I am HSM fan and I have dreams about being very famous and I like the actors and their talented singing voices and dancing. Etc.

😂 y’all don’t realize how big Status Quo was back in the day. My grandparents on my dads side was huge into having and living in the Status Quo. If it was a musical this is it 😂 I loved fishing they wanted me to stick to other things 😂
Hard to believe that people think the movie is saying the characters are against people joining diffrent groups and it sends a bad message when that was the point because the characters learn that they were jerks about it and let everyone do as they please. It's teaching kids that people are free to do as they please and they shouldn't follow that tread.
U all miss the point. It wasnt about being good at something; it was about being good at aomething completely different to your highschool group. The athletes didnt want singers or cooks. The stoners didnt want a classical music player The nerds didnt want a street dancer. Then gabriella (a popular nerd) and zac (a popular athlete) shake it up for everyone. It was a mssive moment for 2008. In the end the whole school become friends with people they never thought they would even be able to talk to.
