High School Principal Reacts - iCarly S1E19 "iGot Detention" Reaction Video 

In most kids' shows, the teachers are either the voices of reason or they're somewhat antagonistic, but over time the kids learn they're not so bad. In iCarly, they're straight up monsters. 😂

An ICarly episode I would recommend is "Ihave a Lovesick Teacher," where a teacher, Ms Ackerman, starts dating Carly's brother, Spencer.

In Everybody Hates Chris, Chris would try to get expelled from Corleone Junior High by pulling the fire alarm, only to be thanked by the science teacher because the science classroom was on fire.

I have a feeling that the teacher's name is Mr. Howard because he kind of looks like President Eisenhower.

Im surprised that the principal in this show is nice, down to earth, and actually relates to the kids. Im most kids shows, the principals are sometimes portrayed as mean, evil and money hungry.

I still highly recommend Arthur as a series to react to. It’s FULL of school-based content. A ton episodes take place at their school, with several key characters being teachers and the school principle.

When I was in high school, our detention was the hour before school started. They talked about starting detention on Saturday, but they decided not to.

Actually when I was in the 6th grade I got detention with the principle along with a few other kids and it was scheduled for 6pm to 7pm and the principle wasnt in the same room but he told us we're being watched from the surveillance cameras.

I only got detention once in middle school. I regret giving my teacher the middle finger. That was 8 years ago.

Well Brandon the main reason why it happens is because it's afterhours and most importantly no one is literally there but it can backfire in this case, and in this case the principal caught Howard, good video, there's a episode called ispy a mean teacher where they do the show to show how boring their teachers are

One time, I kicked a school window out of anger after losing a game during recess. I didn't get detention, but I did get ISS (In-School Suspension).

At my school growing up, we had detention on Thursday’s after school. I never went, but my Aunt was a teacher and her classroom was the room they used for detention. So I remember on Thursdays having to be quiet until her contract hours were up since she was my ride home. My mom was also a teacher, but she worked at a different school. Her school was small enough to where they had detention everyday. Sometimes they had a few kids, sometimes none at all. My mom also spent a lot of time doing Saturday detention because apparently she got a good bonus for doing so. Apparently the kids really enjoyed when she would be the detention teacher because she was pretty chill. Normally she’d let them take a break and read for a few minutes as long as they got their work done. I remember this episode being so confusing growing up though. Like why was it so late at night? And why couldn’t they just reschedule the web show? Detention can’t last that long right? Hour to two hours max?

When I was in middle school 6th grade, I got lunch detention for a day. So lunch detentions is where students would have to eat in the classroom instead of the cafeteria. So the reason I got lunch detention (which was the only time I ever got in trouble in school) was this. My last class for the day was science and the teacher told us at the end of the day to put our chairs onto the table so the janitors could clean the floors easily. At my table which four students including my self sat at, I and three others put our chairs up and one didn’t. So the whole table got lunch detention because of one student. During the lunch detention only me and one other student from the table attended the lunch detention. So I guess you would say I got in trouble for no reason.

The hall pass thing reminded me of the one they have in Invader ZIM, it’s just whole radiator that says ‘hall pass’ on the side and they have to drag it through the school😭

I only ever got detention once in middle school because a bully and his friends attacked me, but oddly enough the detention happened during the school day. I found it so weird as I expected I’d have detention after school, and for them to tell my dad to pick me up at 3 instead of 1.

This is a great episode, I sadly did get a detention and an out of school suspension while in school. I can't exactly remember what they were for though. I think I was acting up or something else

In uk when i was at school in the late 90's the school had friday night detention i got one for refusing to participate in a physical education class.

How do you get detention voluntarily? When I was in middle school, I want to spent lunch in lunch detention. But the teachers said “no go sit at the other tables. But I wanted to isolate and unfortunately I couldn’t leave the cafeteria so I had to suffer.😤

We LOVE Principal Franklin! I strongly recommend a much much later episode of iCarly where Gibby opens a restaurant in the school basement.

14:41 This reminds me of one time when I was in fifth grade, the cafeteria workers accidentally burnt some toast, and since we had advanced smoke detectors, it triggered the fire alarm automatically. They dealt with the fire instantly, though, so the fire department did not need to come. We still had to evacuate the building, though.

The only reason Mr. Howard chose not to stay in the room most of the time is just for the sake of advancing the episode's plot so that the main characters can have an excuse to do something no matter how inappropriate it may seem. This happens a lot in most Nickelodeon shows.

The Movie Sky High include a principal putting students in Detention and leaving the students alone with no one to watch them.

I told you about a show called the replacements Episode was about bullying. I just remembered the title was called insecurity guard another episode called Conrad Day off which also detention and I’m not gonna spoil it let’s just say what happens in will definitely be dark humor the principal do anything to make money also at the show goes on a lot of staff being replaced. Anyone can find out what you’re doing if it’s something online because it means public, including school and you will get in trouble for saying bad things about school online when the teachers and principals find out, so you better beware.

14:59 I find that title confusion (Scarlett’s Web) very funny because Nickelodeon made the 2006 movie version of Charlotte’s Web, so this can’t be for copyright or trademark reasons because they also own iCarly.

I remember having detention a couple of times in grade school (don't remember what for though). The gym couch, Ms. Zymmer/Zimmer (can't believe I still remember her after all these years), was in charge of detention. Basically, she had us do our homework and after we were finished with that, we had to either write a sentence 10 or 100 times. Or we had to write down words from the dictionary - the word and the definition. I had detention for a couple of more days, but she let me and the other students off the hook because some other students who were supposed to be in detention with us left without permission. They ran right pass the window and she left with some others to chase them. Said sense we stayed we could leave and whatever remaining days we had we didn't have to do them anymore.

23:35 He isn’t wrong when comparing his hearing to a hawk’s hearing. Normally, people make comparisons to hawks if they have good eyesight, but they also have excellent hearing. I’ve also seen some people make comparisons to owls for both senses.

Can’t remember if I commented on this, but the high school I went to for 9th and 10th grade, we had uniforms. They were just basic light blue polo shirt or a dark blue sweatshirt with hoodie and I think black pants. I’ve always wore the dark blue sweatshirt. Apparently you have to also wear the light blue polo shirt underneath the sweatshirt. I didn’t know that. A teacher told me to take my sweatshirt off, I told them I didn’t have anything underneath it and I got detention. I think it was a in school detention. But detention itself wasn’t bad. The teacher sitting in for detention was nice and we blew up balloons for I guess an upcoming pep rally or something.

My school didn't really have detention they had a thing called lunch detention where you had to report to the office and they made you eat lunch there which sucks if you wanted to leave campus and get food at a restaurant but if you brought food or you ate hot lunch which is the cafeteria in the school it didn't really suck

This episode was pretty funny and crazy.. felt bad for poor Gibby getting a Texas Wedgie 😭 Mr. Howard is such a cynical, mean teacher 😅 they be over exaggerating everything in this show, especially with Mr. Howard’s hatred for the students 🤣 and Scarlet’s Web is supposed to be a parody of Charlotte’s Web, a classic children’s book & movie by EB White about the spider, Charlotte, trying to save the life of a pig named Wilbur by writing positive, convincing words to describe him in her web. In Dan Schneider shows, they replace the real names of literature, company names and media so they don’t get copyrighted. Like for example, with Principal Franklin’s “PearPhone”, is a parody of the iPhone. And “Krusty Kreme” is a parody of Krispy Kreme. Geometry Channel spoofs the National Geographic Channel. They would have to pay to say the names of or use the real stuff, but instead say/make replacements.

Not sure if this would actually register as a code of proper discipline, but I have heard that some teachers would punish all their student based on the misconduct of one student's actions if they are unable to identify the student responsible for the misconduct. Then there is the situation of the teacher threating to give all their students detention as punishment for another students misconduct and assigning extra homework. These situations of course were more common in elementary and middle school. 27:34 Sometimes, i wondered if teachers generally made up their own rules of punishment, knowing that their students would not be able to question or challenge it. I wonder if this has ever happened to anyone else.

I remember the last getting detention in school I got out of by hiding some open up milk in principles office and after the weekend I had to go all way to detention for more days but by then secretary and the principle was staying out of the office for half the and the following day the smell was so bad they could barely go into the office and then by Friday they closed the entire office down and we had to use the high school office if we needed to use it but they never could find it until day 30 of the spoiled milk smell and at that point they thew out the carpet and removed everything out side and searched thew everything until they found 4 open containers of spoiled milk and I got away with because no one knew who did it but the kids in detention me and two other kids never would get detention again no matter what we did

Presumably the teacher is planning to omit Carly’s actions in her claim due to some television logic that would stop her from getting the benefits. Hence the “absolutely not”.
