KMC/KOOTRAC has been rebuilding FMC/KMC High Speed Steel Track (HSST) Vehicles for the past 34 years. When we remanufacture/recondition a used FMC or KMC Track Vehicle, we combine many different new, reman or good used parts and components from our very large parts inventory. We are known worldwide as being the FMC/KMC Track Vehicle "EXPERTS"! THIS IS OUR ONLY BUSINESS!!!
We assemble these machines as per specific customer requirements and price range. All machines will be in excellent operating condition as well as having a very acceptable appearance c/w new paint.
You have our guarantee that all machines have been repaired, serviced and a pre-delivery inspection completed prior to shipment. All KMC machines carry a parts and service warranty, some greater than others, depending on customer requests and type of machine assembled (new, remanufactured, or reconditioned).

Back in the 80’s we had three FMC track skidders, two were cable skidders with clams on the back to hold the logs & the third was a grapple skidder. I remember working on the tracks of those damn things every day it seemed like! My dad’s nickname was Tarzan, and he was the best logger I’ve ever known & definitely the strongest! He took those skidders we were using up in the steep Yaak of Montana over to eastern Montana and continued logging with them over there out of Lewistown and grass Range etc. We also had the big white Mountain logger skidders too. I’ve seen my dad do some wild shit with both the Mountain logger & the FMC track skidders. I was logging for him when he took one of his FMC cable skidders right off a 70% slope of a large ridge so it was a long skid down, & he bladed all the logs from the top down to the bottom of that ridge. He would at times have to hook the winch line to stumps behind him because it was so damn steep you couldn’t back up a lot of the times at ALL! That ridge was so steep that after the old man got done taking all the logs off that mountain there was nothing left on that mountain side but twigs, & it was so steep & the soil was so dry & slick that you couldn’t even attempt to walk down from the top because it was almost like walking down a cliff! My older brother & another guy cut all the timber on the ridge & mountain side & with FMC track skidders you always had to make your stumps as close to the ground as possible, especially on steep ground or the skidder would come off the tracks & if that skidder came off the tracks way up on a 70% mountainside, we would’ve needed a BIG helicopter to fix that situation because it would’ve been near impossible to put the tracks back on when we’re on ground that steep! We probably couldn’t even change a broken torsion bar on ground thar steep, but luckily we didn’t have to!

I have often thought FMC originally designed this track skidder using components from the M113 military vehicle.

Rather have one of these with a 6 way blade for moving material be smooth and much softer to run then traditional cat

I ran an FMC, the precursor, back in the early 70's. Fun ride, even on steep ground and snow. Did not enjoy working on the final drive though. Did they ever make that stronger?
