Warching Peter O'Toole lumbering about, drinking whiskey, and shouting for an hour and a half, or a couple or three is one of life's treasured pleasures!
It all started with someone writing this hilarious story. The selected famous actors were blended in to perfection with each separate roles.. Peter O'Toole is as ever superb and brings it to award worthy hilarity. His book "Loitering with Intent" was read twice by me and my face muscles got cramps from smiling and laughing through out.
What a legacy Peter O’Toole left! I hope to read his book! I loved/love his acting & He was a great story teller! I heard him tell of a few crazy things he & his pals did when he was interviewed on some talk shows! 😁♥️⭐️
Just Sharon his living wife. She falls out of a tower after Martin(a ghost) is sitting on the ledge. She runs towards him, falls out of the tower. Meanwhile Mary (another ghost) is in love with a living guy. He kisses her and she's pretty much a hideous corpse since she and the guy did the forbidden dirty. Anyway Sharon dies. Mary disappears. They exchange spirits. Mary is alive and Sharon can have her tall wart infested gassy ghost.
I remember being a kid and wanting to live inside this movie and not leaving my room until I watched the credits end! Laughs, sadness, action…it had it all! 😂
My favorite scene, the stage comes to life and comes at everyone. The concept is so original and the way they pulled it off for its time is so humorous and captivating to me.
James Willson Are you for real? Have you looked at Daryl Hannah lately? She's another one who chopped her face with botox and lifts...terrible freakish looking now !
Ynnis Glytyr It's obvious James meant the Daryl Hannah of the 80s when she still had her Splash mermaid hotness. But yeah, OP, Liam Neeson's ghost can haunt my panties anytime haha
This movie is the one i watched when i was a young boy no more than 12, on our Malaysia's Free to Air broadcast. However i never remembered the movie name. And throughout the years i always wanted to watch it again but never successfully located this. Today 30 years later i found it. Brings back so much memories. And yes, it is a movie that you will always remember!
What a cast! What a production! I hope it was as much fun for them to make as it is for us to watch. Love Beverley D'Angelo and of course, O'Toole - my hero.
I love how Peter o'toole screams "shut up Mother!!!" Lol! He was absolutely wonderful! This movie is hilarious and Romantic. Liam Neeson. 😍... merciful heavens. ❤
No one played eccentric, "larger than life" characters better, than, the late, great Peter O'toole...Both on-screen and off, his charm shone brilliantly...You know that "The most interesting man in the world" beer commercial?...Well, Peter O'toole, in real life, personified that description...I, always, looked forward to and enjoyed his interviews with David Letterman and Jay Leno...His brilliance, as an orator and raconteur, were legendary...His sober recollections of his drunken adventures with Richard Harris and fondly reminiscing about his past shenanigans kept us all on the edge of our seats...Peter was, indeed, a movie star, in every sense, and was, undoubtedly, the most interesting man in the world, during his lifetime.
Liam Neesons GREATEST performance.... he is absolutley brilliant in this lmao excellent movie lots of fun lots of giggles. much love from Scotland xoxox
the morning after i had my second daughter at 6am (c section) i woke up in the hospital at like 12pm and i turned the tv on & this movie was on and i had never seen it before but i love old movies so much lol & i was so bored so i watched it and i'm so happy i found it on here😭💜🃏
I agree with u all the way. Blood, guts, gore, tits, all from the computer, take the place of real acting. Just love the older comedys. Don't get me wrong there's lots of great movies being made today, but, just gotta love the older comedy classics like High Spirits.
I agree. This movie captivated me when I was very young. I was actually thinking about it a few days ago and bam pops up on my RU-vid feed... creepy lol. Its a classic film
This is one of the many movies, that made me believe that true love is out there. Spirits whether in the flesh & now... or in the afterlife, are always watching and loving you. Even if you don't know it. I know I'm a hopeless romantic, when it comes to love, but love is forever boundless!
One of the ultimate favorite movies of all time. Love the Irish Singer doing the song's her father wrote the tune Dirty Old Town and many other's talk about a dynasty there.
This is one of my most favorite movies of all times...I love Liam Neeson in any movie, he's absolutely incredible...if a ghost like him would hunt my house I'd be incredibly happy
It's the tacky 80's acting style, imo. Like any other era in film, there's something that stands out about the corny 80's dramady. Reminds me of the Transcontinental accent of the 40's (?) a style all of it's own in film.
^^^ you must have had a really rough time in the 80's!! I lived through them and I loved it ❤️! Best time of my life!! Still love the movies and music of that decade!! 🎵🎶🎟️🎟️🎸🥁📼🎦
Thank you so much for bringing back one of my happiest child good memories! I have been binge watching this for two days now! Hope all my fellow 80's fans are have an awesome day! Dont ever grow up so much that you forget simple things!
We are diminished by the loss of you, Peter. I will miss your rare humor and quick wit. Thankfully we have the body of work you left for us. Sleep well. For all who may have missed it, Creator is a sweet loving and funny movie that was all Peter!
Oh Mr P O,toole you were and still such a dear /dearest /joy/filled part of a so/ very quiet and @ times so shy young private school taught early 1950/ish girl of the then country like SEA shore of The not forgotten Oldest part of NYC yes STATENISLAND you will always now + forever make my heart smile and my bx soul take its flight with your happy memory ty kmurph5360 in sinyc
I have it saved in my playlist from past several months and i thought its not worth watching but then I decided to watch it and OMG its a wonderful movie.. light comedy.. love.. lovely cast.. it turned out great.. specially the ending.. ♥️♥️
I first met you in Lawrence of Arabia, so I know what kind of incredible talent you were. I saw you in My Favorite Year when I was in my 30s, finally, and it was remarkable. High Spirits, though, sir, I loved you in this movie. A tremendous talent. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. Mr. O'Toole.
@@seltaeb9691 ??? He died in 2013, why “doesn’t he do RIP!” ? I thought he wasn’t really dead so I checked IMDB so I don’t get it, I know a lot of people report actors dead before their not...but this is not the case so please explain...
It literally took me 30 years to find this movie, i seen it when i was like 5 i might have seen it a few years later and i barely remember it then i looked up movies that Liam Neeson had done and it popped up about this movie i was so happy. And it's an even better movie then i thought at this age!
I remember seeing this on the shelf on my local video store back when it was released but I never got around to hiring it for the night. And I never even seen it on TV so this was my first time. Some big names back in the day and not a bad wee show. Definitely one of the better films on RU-vid.
Yes, Peter O'Toole has always been magnificent. He had so much talent - he could carry any movie. What delights us in this one was the obvious fun he was having! We'll miss you to be sure, but generations will continue to watch and rediscover you...
Peter O'Toole was truly one of the best Actors in the world, and of all time. He truly was the one actor who made the movies, not the movie or movies who made Peter O'Toole. He was able to make a terrible movie ok, a fair movie good, and a good movie great, but he made all the movies especially Lawrence of Arabia, the best movie of all times. He will surely be missed, and I know the industry is the worse for his loss.
I’ve seen this movie before however it’s been many years ago that I’ve seen this movie. I loved this movie then and I still love this movie. RIP Petter O’Toole as you are so missed
I love these kind of oddball movies. The story was totally screwy, but the cinematography and sense of place were excellent. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. A must for people who liked The Fearless Vampire Killers or Scorcese's weird stuff like After Hours and The King of Comedy. Peter O'Toole is fabulous as always. Watch it.
The world is too angry and cynical now. But through the magic of older films we can escape and remember when time seemed more innocent (even though they werent). Im sure our parents and g-parents had screwball films as well. These are our classics-even if they are not award worthy. Anyway loved seeing these actor in their youth. Whatever happen to Steve Guttenberg(sp?) anyway?
I found this to be quite enjoyable for how old it is. It's amusing that they fake being a haunted castle, to then having a real haunt there. Certainly a good watch for this Spooky Season.
Always thought David Bowie and even Mick jagger were in their own artistic way emulating O' Toole._._._ He's a bigger influence than many realize ._._..
Yes miscast. She was the hot actress at the time, but frankly find her features too hard to play an ancient irish ghost. Would have liked someone more feminine looking softer face.
Buenísima, maravillosa, divertida , creativa , sorprendente ,los actores geniales , los efectos .... Me encanto ... Ceci 65 años desde Tenerife . AMO EL CINE ❤❤❤
Oh, how I love Liz Smith. She may have started acting at a good ripe age, but she brought character into every part she played. RIP Liz, you were a gem.
OMG you just made my day 😁 me and my siblings watched this film on good old VHS about a million times. I am so happy to watch it again after all these years ❤ thank you so much!
I loved the fiddling at the end credits, reminded me of hearing my father play. 🎻👍 This is a great time of year to watch this. So early Merry 🎄 Christmas to all the other O'Toole fans out there! Peter Seamus O'Toole, R.I.P. Near 7 years on next month and you are still sorely missed. 🌹😔🌹. Erin Go Braugh!! 🌈🇨🇦☘️
This movie got such a charm and comedy that can never be replicated, so dont Even try it!!!! This actors are so good that i could never have seen others do a remake or try to make high spirits 2.i Just love the way the movie is been put together. Bloody Nice work! 🙂💖💖💖🔥🔥🔥💯🌹.
PHENOMENAL cast ! Almost every- thing worked , even the seriously silly stuff ! Peter O'toole stupendous as usual. Totally agree, sequel could never equal, so PAHLEEES leave the high spirits to cavort in their castle without a remake !
i wonder if there is part 2 of this movie? its good movie worth watching like what happen to the kids few years later what happen to father what his name who got their happy ending
I first saw this film when I was quite young, and even back then I was completely blown away by how good looking Liam Neeson is and how dashing he was in that costume. I guess my penchant for older men and period clothing started rather early!
