My 44 has the same problem, the leak at the pedals. It does help if you don't put the steering wheel all the way up. The last time we fixed that was before 2000. I had to put a new starter on last winter and went with a planetary one. Spins it so much faster!
Hey Nick and Amanda, we put one of those starters on our 4450 MFD about 5 yrs ago when we swaped the motor out. Works great, will be using them on the other 2 44s when they give grief. We've had that same oil leaks on the floor with an old 4240 we had and the 4450 mfd . It was power steering hoses that gave out.
Nick I hope you have good luck with the gear reduction starters. I tried several of them 5-6 years ago and they did not last on my daily chore tractors. The best I have found is from All States tractor parts. #102202, Starter - Delco Style DD (4906). Cost $320 US. This is a new starter so no core needed. It has the larger diameter armature. Getting the back bolt in is really fun. LOL I have installed over twenty of them on neighbors and my tractors in the last 3-4 years and not a single one has failed. The OEM one like this from JD is $1160 US.
We are finally getting winter here in Minnesota. It is snowing here with 3 inches or so on the ground. There are chances of snow for the next several days with a chance of a pretty good snow fall on Monday. It could have just stayed nice dang it.
"Loctite 680 Bearing mount" works really well in place of welding if you take the not so permanent approach lol. I use it a lot on the lathe for press fit items.

good video nick. Wondered if the oil pressure gauge is working on the dash. that connection can also leak. we have a 4250 with an external oil pressure gauge. the one in the dash is not accurate.it was on from previous owner. regards from ontario

The original steps looked better on those deers just the two steps.Now everyone’s putting staircases on them they all must have hunchbacks why they need big steps that are are only a few inch’s away from hitting the ground lol

Question for you, I got a 4650 that I run on the grain vac and every once in a while it’ll just randomly get like a pulse and shake the cab and make the vac shake and run like shit, what could it be?
