In 2015, Dr. Charlie Rush, plant pathologist with Texas A&M AgriLife Research, Amarillo, initiated a program to evaluate the feasibility of high value vegetable production in the Texas Panhandle. Four high tunnels were purchased and built according to manufacturer’s instructions. However, it quickly became obvious high winds threatened successful high tunnel vegetable production.
