What time of year did you guys go? Are the mosquitoes always that bad in the Uintas or do they start to go away in August/ September?

I go to Jewel every year with my Dad and brothers. Great spot! We often see moose in the back meadow.

Beautiful country man. Looked like some punky wood you had there.

I hate punky wood!

Fun one! You guys ate really well! As an aside your wood stove looked like an exercise in frustration. Looked starved of oxygen when you put that skillet on? Or maybe damp wood?

High Uintas question for you. for a highline thru hike. you think rain over mitts will be useful/needed? or just fleece gloves. looking at end of aug or so.

I don't think so personally. I wouldn't think that you'd need them.

I love your pronunciation of Aggasiz. Mine is [ag-uh-see]. We're probably both butchering it though...haha. That jacket looks/sounds awesome but it also sounds really expensive. Do you mind me asking how much you paid for it and where you got it? That looked like Hayden Lake at 6:20. Hayden, Jewel, Teal, and Cutthroat are all lakes I'd like to get back to and spend more time around. Glad to see you brought up a reliable backup stove to make those meals work out. Looked super tasty!!!

WasatchWill Yeah the pronunciation of that Peak frustrates me ha ha. I'm not sure what Lake that is cause if you look at the topo it's not very clear what lake is what, but could be Hayden. For the Jacket, it's freaking awesome! You can get it online from various places, Backcountry being one of them. I was fortunate enough to be given the jacket, so I did not pay for it. But retail on it is $350, but have seen it for $300. It's impressive though. Great wind barrier and the integration of wool on the inside, which doesn't make it an insulating layer, but makes it so so so comfortable. I feel very blessed to have friends in the industry who are kind enough to share amazing gear with me.

What an awesome spot! And even better that you were able to get out there with your dad. I went backpacking with my dad all the time growing up, but unfortunately due to some health issues he's not able to any longer. So hopefully we'll see your dad in some future videos as well. Carry on friend!
