I watch his videos and I criticise his way of working, equipment and buildings. Then by the end I see the work load he has I think there really needs to be 2 Alan's to get everything done. I imagine he is a family man also which takes time. Chin up, you could be a desk jockey.

Do it yourself.. we make are own silage, grain, bales ect! And we have tried contractors in the past... and it's never the same. When the grass or crop is ready.. it's ready

Own kit bought and paid for, it can be done on a clear day no waiting , better to do it yourself.

You need to get a flag on the combine like the American lads do 😁

It's a great country to grow corn, harvesting is the problem, good luck with it.

Do it your self it is much better you can do it when you want

We have a 10x trailed harvester and 90% of the time I tear my hair out with it hate the thing easier just to get someone to come and chop but like this year working in such short windows and everyone wanted to cut the same time am glad I can still go when i decide if it's not broken down that is 🙄

It is handy having your own machinery I'd love to have my own gear when I start but the money u spend on your own machinery you could of spent it on something more important for the farm eg gates

We do all our own work and I wouldn't change you can save corn or hay years no one else can because we have the machines waiting

Contactor never b there when ya want him feck it's badly down work cut out for pit or bale Layin stuff if it's not burned off

Alan I would go shares with more newer combine to speed up harvest especially if you have wait for contractor even though it’s feed barley. If got enough wagons get crop off or extra field bins it help justify newer combine. Good luck with harvest 👍

Alan a lorry load of straw is cheap and there not much gain in 9 acres either. Just my opinion sor.

Fuck it Sell the hole lot machines and fields and go on a holiday 😂

It is allot easier to buy straw and grain cos you get the time back the land for grass and the reassurance that you always have enough

I think you should get out of barley and just put it to grass and possibly buy some more sheep or cattle as it would probably be more profitable

probably would be better to get the contractor in for just 9 acres but since you have the combine and yokes to do it then makes sense to do it urself. Do you work normal hours at farmflix (9-5 etc) Alan? Barley must be a pain in the arse if so as just another stress source lol

Great vid 👍100% agree about what you've said about contractors and some imo couldn't give a crap half the time to do any small farms because we're too small and love the bigger cheque from the bigger farm's. As far as I'm concerned if your lucky to have a good neighbour who's willing to help out with combining in exchange to cart or bale for him it could pay. Providing no fallout's or breakdowns. Enjoyed your video.👍
