For a long time it was reload rate and penetration trumps all in ground battles but now with the over pressure mechanics "derp guns" serve a viable purpose within the game and are actually fun to use again...

Totally agree that up to 5.7 is where the most fun is at. Any higher and you just train your frustration tolerance

I like how in test drive u can shoot the AA truck crew with machineguns and it still somehow blows up even tho not a single bullet hit the truck itself

If you angle to the driver’s right side, you gain a lot of survivability. Either the shell bounces off the lesser surface area, knocks your breach out, or only kills two unimportant crew members.

phily if you were wondering IRl most tank crews bail out when receiving a penetrating hit. Something about having one of your friends guts all over the place. The Stug would have serious spalling and the crew would bail or be seriously injured. Love your videos keep up the good work

I agree that lower tier is more fun. Once your at 6.3-6.7 and above you have to be more tactical, especially when your in the 7s and up. I like to play 4.0-5.3 the most because I get really high sometimes and just zone out to music and go on a rampage.

Phly, for long range shots, select the roof MG as an individual weapon (its 3 on my numpad) and bracket your target using that. Its how I use the Chinese ISU-152 in Sim. Having 7 years of War Thunder under my belt I'm fairly good at getting ranges roughly right most of the time so it doesn't take long. 3 round burst each time. When it strikes the target centre mass you've got your range, move back to main armament and adjust the range to match and boom. You'll make long range HE shots all day. The Chinese ISU-152 isn't available in sim events until you're dealing with late WW2 stuff so I find myself on big maps against Jagd Tigers and King Tigers etc but for now, the 152mm HE "don't care" and destroys that which sits before it.

Phly, you need to listen to me very closely: The Swedish Derp Gun - the notorious, infamous, feared Spj. fm/43-44 has a very unique skill when using its HE round, a skill that very few vehicles have. The Derp Gun, a 1.7 BR Tank Destroyer, can one-shot any, and I mean ANY, ground vehicle in the game. Here's what you need to know: --4.7 to 6.3 is the golden zone for Phun, though, if you like living on the edge, it can do work at 7.7. --These shenanigans and general tomfoolery are best partaken in with Phriends --Phinally, and most importantly: Go for turret top mounted MGs, Commander and Driver Optics (especially at higher BR), underbellies, and neck shots. I wish you the best of luck, Agent Phunt (Attempt No.2)

Hey @phlydaily, the shell changes recently made it so the 85mm cannot pen the jumbo hull anynore on the top section. The us 76mm also got a little better 60 degree pen while losing a little 30 degree.
